Can Rover be Good for Your Home Based Business?

Breaking Some Rules Can be Good for Home Based Business
Ask any sales manager, any executive, any customer service supervisor, and they're probably all going to tell you the same thing - your home based business must be professional, your calls and correspondence transparent.
What do they mean by that? Essentially they are saying that no one who calls you or visits your web site should be able to tell that you are a teeny tiny one or two person company working out of your home.
Some professional folks are starting to disagree. While of course you want a nifty, creative, organized and professional web site it isn't necessarily the kiss of death if folks know you're small and know you don't have a skyscraper office with receptionist, administrative assistant and staff of 300.
Why? Because they're doing it too. Millions of U.S.folks are starting their own business from their garage or their living room, creating their web sites, perhaps even working their part time day job until their home based business takes off. If you have a reasonable inkling this potential client is a small, struggling company, (and, yes, you certainly can ask some probing questions to find out) you might very well strike up a great rapport once they know you're small as well.
Small can mean lower prices, faster turnaround. And without the overhead of an office you can assure them of highly competitive rates.
Small and home based aren't all bad when it comes to business.
Let's Talk - the Key to Success in Your Home Based Business
Which brings up another point - your inbound and outbound customer calls. You're home trying to complete your client's assignment, get the baby down for her nap and feed the pooch. The phone rings. You pick it up, saying your company name and your own name with a smile on your voice. You talk for a few minutes to the potential client. Then the dog starts barking. Is that a dog? " the client asks. Yes, sorry. It's my Great Dane. She wants me to take her for a walk." Oh no, you think.
Now she knows my business is home based. She'll never use my services.) But what does she say? Great Dane - I love that breed. I have a Husky myself." And there begins the rapport. It can really work to your advantage.
Old Sales Tale Holds True for Home Based Business Too
It's a fact - people don't buy products or services. They buy people. They buy you. They buy from you not primarily because of what you offer, but because of who you are. If they like you, they will buy from you. Not only might it be in spite of your home based business. It just might be because of it.
Most people love pets. A frolicking feline or clever canine can melt their hearts, open their mouths (getting them to share their own critter stories) and then open their wallets. People who love pets think that people who love pets are great people.
That barking dog might just not be so bad for business after all.
