Home Based Business Owners Need to Get out Too!

It's way too easy for home based business owners too get too wrapped up trying to do everything themselves. The result? 80-hour weeks, endless hours of typing, writing, corresponding. The laundry basket piles up. The dinner burns in the oven - for the 7th time this week! Get out of the house or you'll go crazy!

Pretend Your Home Based Business is the Corporate World

Even if you're working for yourself, it is good for home based business owners to PRETEND that they have a boss - themselves. There's no one to kick us when we're slow but there's also no one to tell us when to stop too! And it's easy for hardworking home based business owners to work till they drop.

As a home based business owner, you need to draw the line between home and office too - a very clear line, at that. You still need to spend time with the kids, pick them up, send them to school, tuition, cook the meals, feed the kids (babies and husbands), iron the clothes, clear the garbage can...etc. So, do it in an organized way and if you can't, get help!

Keep Away from the Home Based Business during Weekends

In order to bring in more dough for the family, we work overtime and often, during weekends too. But the better thing to do is to stay away from your home based business during weekends, if at all possible. If you HAVE to work during the weekends, make sure you designate a weekday as a replacement - at least one day in the week, you should spend time COMPLETELY AWAY from your home based business.

Getting the Kids Involved in Your Home Based Business

To make time for yourself and your family, you can engage your older children (9 and older) to help you do the filing, typing, shredding, cooking, baking....etc in order to help you clear up your muddled schedule. This way, things get done faster and you will get more time to spend with your kids. On top of that, when you work together with your kids, your kids will understand your business better and the relationship generally gets better.

Spend Some Time Alone

Not only do we have to schedule in time for our family and loved ones, but we also have to schedule at least an hour a day to ourselves - totally alone doing what we want to do and not think about our home based business. You may like knitting, knit. If you like reading, read. If you like partying, go party. You NEED the time alone.

Saying no Will Benefit Your Home Based Business

Sometimes a too-good-to-be-true deal comes along and our schedule is packed to the brim. We desperately want to say 'yes' but in doing so, we know that the chances of delivering on the project is slim. You can either outsource the project to someone else or just say 'no' very politely. Tell the client that you're packed for now but you'll be able to take on his next project. Keep his contact information and send him an email when you are free...just to remind him that you're still around and ready to be at his service.

And when you have the free time, GET OUT OF THE HOUSE or you'll go insane.
