After having a new baby, we fantasize about being able to stay one with our kids, with business opportunity after business opportunity falling into our laps....or coming into our email boxes. We would have people magically transfer money into our bank accounts.

We look for opportunities to start out own home businesses or we seek out opportunities to work at home every single day, on the Internet, in the newspaper, and in magazines that we grab off the shelves.

We need to, first, make a distinction between work at home and business opportunity. Are we looking for a way to start our own home-based business or are we looking for contracted work from someone else. There is a huge difference between business opportunity and work at home opportunity : business opportunity means the chance to start your own business on your own, with no salary. Payout depends on your own effort - the harder you work, the more you sell, the more money you'll make.

Working at home means that someone else finds the clients and hands you projects. They give you assignments and projects, you complete it and gets paid on a per project basis. After some negotiations, you might even get them to pay you on a monthly basis without requiring you to be in their office.

It's really easy - to not know how to tell the difference! Pardon the cruel joke here but many of us have fallen into the traps set up unscrupulous people who want to make others part with their $20 - $40 dollars and then run for their lives! One time or the other, we have fallen for such scams.

If you're really looking for a business opportunity, you need to prepare yourself for the types of scams that you might come face to face with. Not all business opportunities are bad and not all of them are scams. There are many types of legitimate firms offering young, hopeful, energetic and dreamy individuals the chance to start their own business and dictate their own income. The harder they work at the business opportunity, the more money they will make.

Some of them offers direct selling, Multi-Level-Marketing opportunities, and some requires you to send spam to others, and others require you to spend a lot of money in order to earn a little money. If you're willing to work hard at making a business like MLM and direct-sales work for you, by all means, go ahead. It CAN BE LUCRATIVE. But one of the most useful business opportunity I know is the affiliate products business.

With this business opportunity, a person has to have a website, and then sign up as an affiliate to merchants selling an array of products. You promote and help the merchant sell the products and you get a commission for each sale you make. All you need to learn how to do is to promote your website and promote the products well!
