Finding a Home Business Idea is Easier Than You Think

Have You Been Looking Too Hard for a Home Business Idea?
Have you been looking so hard for a home business idea that you are about ready to give up? That could be the problem. You are looking too hard. The more that you search for a home business idea, the more stressed and frustrated you become and the less likely you are to notice a good home business idea when you do spot it!
Behind every successful home business is at least one good idea. Behind every good idea is some creative thinking. Or thinking "outside of the box". Most of us are forced to do so much rational, analytical, and non-creative thinking in our daily lives, that we have to relearn how to think creatively.
The first step to a really good home business idea is to relax and do some creative thinking.
The Process for Creating a Strong Home Business Idea
You can force yourself to thing broader and more creatively by making yourself go through a couple of steps. Think back to your days of high school English where the teacher would force you to think broadly about a topic before narrowing it down for closer consideration. You need to take yourself through those same creative thinking exercises to come up with a home business idea.
The first step is to go really broad. Sit down with a pen and paper and come up with a list of one hundred home business ideas. Do not rule out anything while you are making this list. Remember, these are not home business ideas you necessarily want to consider, they are just home business ideas that you can think of that exist or could exist. This is called brainstorming and it pops into your brain it should go on your list. Do not let yourself stop writing until you have one hundred ideas on your list.
The next step is to narrow that list down. Start at the top and go down crossing out any home business idea for which you have no skills, interest, or desire to run. Try to narrow the list down to 6 - 12 home business ideas that you would like to look into further.
Research the Remaining Home Business Ideas on Your List
Now you should be left with half a dozen to a dozen home business ideas for which you feel you have reasonably enough skill, experience and/or interest in to investigate further.
The next step is to determine how lucrative these business ideas could potentially be, what start up costs and/or licensing is required to start them, and if an unfulfilled market exists or there is an untapped niche in that market that your home business idea could fill.
Research each one individually, only moving on to the next one after you have done thorough research including talking to others already in the home business you are considering.
After you have researched all of your possibilities, one home business idea should stand out from the rest as being the right one for you.
