Thousands of people are seeking a small business opportunity which can be both enjoyable and lucrative. The keys is to find an opportunity that is both of those things for you.
The enjoyable part is probably the easiest to identify. We all have things that we enjoy to do. Many of these things are classified as hobbies. A hobby is, by definition, an activity or interest which is pursued for pleasure. A small business opportunity on the other hand, is an activity which is pursued for profit. If you can find a means to combine pleasure and profit, how powerful that small business opportunity could be!
The first thing you will need to do is take stock in your hobbies. Identify those things that you do during the course of your day or the course of your week which are done primarily for pleasure.

For example, you may discover that you really enjoy painting a couple of hours a week as a way to unwind. But the strain on your back when you paint or the strain on your eyesight is so great that after a couple of hours this activity is no longer pleasurable for you. In this case, painting, is an activity that should remain a hobby and not a small business opportunity. As a small business opportunity it would surely require more than a couple of hours per week.
On the other hand, you can find that you are truly passionate about your hobby of going for long walks with your dog. Your schedule is so busy that you only get to do it a couple of times a week. But you long for days filled with fresh air, sunshine, exercise and K-9 companionship from sun up to sun down. In this case, turning your love for dog walking into a small business opportunity might be a very enjoyable, and therefore profitable, venture for you!
Are You Skilled Enough at Your Hobby to Turn it into a Small Business Opportunity?
Again, it is important to be brutally honest with yourself when assessing your skill level.
Using the same example as above, perhaps you enjoy painting without any time restrictions. You could paint all day and all night week after week and would even forget to stop for meals if your stomach would allow you to. At first thought, that would look like a really good small business opportunity for you. But lets say that you really stink at it! Although you enjoy the process the end product is usually pretty atrocious and you have a hard time even giving your work away.
Does painting still seem like a good small business opportunity for you? Probably not, you have to be able to market your product or service after it is produced.
In summary, review your hobbies your likes and your skills and see if you might have a hobby that could indeed become your small business opportunity!
