Making the Transition to a Home Work Environment
Why not do your work from home? There is no reason to continue working in a stuffy office for a boss that you do not like. Why should you continue to pull all of the slack for your work group. If you apply all of your resources and knowledge to working from home, you will not only be much more happy, you will also be much more productive. This is because you will save time during your day, up to four hours total in some cases, by not having to commute.
You can just step out of bed in the morning and go straight to your home office at the end of the hall and start your work day. Maybe even your spouse will bring you your cup of coffee in the morning.
Make Your Home Work Environment As Comfortable As Possible
If you are going to work at home, why not make it as comfortable as possible. There is no reason to continue working in an unhospitable environment. Even if you are working from a home office, there are ways to going about making it more comfortable and appealing. Hang art or posters that you like. Light your office with natural light. You should also have a fan or air conditioning to stay cool. Set up music that you enjoy, so that you can be soothed throughout the work day.
Do what ever you want. After all, you are the boss. Just make certain that the office is presentable and appropriate for your clients for when they come over for a meeting.
Now you will need to have the proper equipment for your office. Do not skimp on the quality. You can find great deals (i.e., 0% APR for a year, no money down, etc.). Just make sure that you have reputable brands that normally do not break or have technological issues and that have good warranty programs.
Another thing to remember is having enough money set aside for you and your family to survive during the rough times that your work from home business will encounter in the first year of its existence. After all, it usually takes an average of three years for a company to break even. You should save at least for 6 months of hardship, because it may be that long before you bring in any money at all.
