Do Some Research for Your Home Cleaning Business
Even though starting a home cleaning business is one of the easiest types of busineses to start up, it still requires a great deal of research. As you contemplate how you will secure customers, it is necessary to do some brainstorming and then to follow up your ideas with solid researching. First of all, you should learn all you can about what your competitors are doing to secure their customer base.
If possible, try to obtain flyers or classified ads from your competition to serve as examples for you later. Find out how far your competition is willing to travel from their home base, and decide if you would like to meet or exceed this radius of operations. Find out how much your competition charges, what their rates are based on -- do they offer a flat fee per square feet, or do they require different fees based on the number and type of rooms to be cleaned?
All of these items must be researched before you can begin to solicit customers, because all of these factors will be part of your overall marketing package.
Decide Which Media You'll Use to Advertise Your Home Cleaning Business
The possibilities are endless, but so are the costs. To determine which type of media you will use to promote your home cleaning business, the most important factor will be the price. Of course, the cheapest way to solicit customers is by word-of-mouth -- send emails to all of your family, friends and neighbors that live in your proposed radius of operations and ask them to get the word out to all of their friends and coworkers.
However, bear in mind that many people today do not prefer to be solicited via email. Another low-cost option is to make your own yard signs, like garage sale signs, and neatly print your phone number and business name on each sign. Then, place the signs in strategic areas, such as near stop signs, traffic lights, and in business parking lots.
A third alternative that is relatively inexpensive is to make flyers from your home computer, printed on your own printer, and distributed either door-to-door or placed on windshields in commercial parking areas. But be careful with the latter, because many times you must have prior permission from the parking lot owner to do so. There are more expensive but very effective options as well, such as radio ads, billboards, and TV commercials.
You will have to decide how much your budget can absorb before creating any media.
Begin Marketing Your Home Cleaning Business Today!
Once you have the flyers, signs, or emails created, begin the distribution immediately. Many times it takes a few weeks before your first customers will trickle in, because the secret to marketing is to plant a seed and then wait for it to grow. Your home cleaning business is almost guaranteed to succeed as long as you have done careful research, created appealing media, and distributed it as widely as possible.
