The thing with Multi-level marketing (MLM) or network marketing is that it is the sort of business opportunity that elicits a strong emotion from everybody. The reaction can be very positive from the person who has made lots of money from it, or knows somebody who has.

Or the feedback can be extremely negative from the person who ended up stuck with a garage-full of stuff that cost them a fortune. Or the person who has been the victim of a scum linked to MLM.

Is Mlm a Real Business Opportunity

Any area where the potential to make money exists, will always attract dishonest persons and promoters of scums. MLM is no exception. But the facts are that there are some very respected international companies that are successful MLM operations. GNLD and Swissgarde (which is part of the Sara Lee group) are just two examples. There are numerous other examples.

The facts are that MLM works and in recent times has attracted serious professionals like doctors and engineers. There are even those who believe that it is the next big business opportunity in the world after franchising. Indeed the colossal world MLM figures seem to support this school of thought.

Mlm is Not a Business Opportunity for Everybody

Just like any other available business opportunity, MLM is not for everybody. Forget the hype traded by promoters of this industry. The facts are that most people who join an MLM program fail to make any money.

Its' attractions, especially for the home business entrepreneur are easy to see. Those who succeed at it get real freedom from the rat race. It is actually the ideal home business opportunity since most of the business is conducted in homes through meetings, parties or special events.

MLM is the sort of business where a few people have earned huge incomes for what appears to be very little work.

Actually there are few business opportunities that require more hard work than MLM. Especially at the beginning. Those who've been successful have had to invite and network like crazy to build up the sort of incomes that are talked about often by MLM promoters.

This business opportunity requires a person who understands people and enjoys dealing with them. If you are not this sort of person, don't waste your time and money joining any MLM program.

A Business Opportunity with Flexible Timing for the Home Business Owner

That's the other thing that continues to attract new recruits in such high numbers. The fact that you don't have to wake up early in the morning and go to work, even if your office is at home. All you do is make sure that you attend important meetings and invite as many new people as possible to meetings.

What the MLM recruiters will not tell you is that it requires a discipline of its own. If you do not aggressively invite enough people into the program and be able to help a few of the people you introduce into the business to do the same, chances are you'll not be successful in MLM.

The conclusion is that MLM is a very powerful home business opportunity. But it's not for everybody.
