Publishing a Magazine for a Business Opportunity?

Publishing a Magazine is Often Best Left to Big Business, but Some Entrepreneurs Have Turned it into a Lucrative Business Opportunity.
To some people there would be no better business opportunity than to publish their own magazine. Seeing their name on their magazine in a newsstand would be their ultimate business opportunity dream come true. This is their passion and they feel a call to follow it with their business opportunity.
The magazine publishing industry, however, is a hard field to break in to. So getting established is not an easy ride. Because of that reason, and because there are not enough business opportunity seekers who would want to publish a magazine bad enough to persevere, this not a business you will often see marketed as a business opportunity or a "turn key business"
Despite all of the competition and obstacles to entering the market, the numbers of magazine titles does continue to grow each day. According to the National Directory of magazines, there were over 17, 000 consumer magazines being marketed in the United States at the end of 2003. That number had increased by about 3, 000 during the previous decade.
The majority of these magazines titles do come from the "major players" in the magazine publishing business; however, there is still some opportunity for entrepreneurs who want magazine publishing as their business opportunity bad enough to compete.
The Key to an Effective Magazine Publishing Business Opportunity is to Locate a Niche
During the nineteen nineties we started to realize the value of niche marketing in many industries. Basically, this just meant that business owners discovered that a business which is built on specific items and marketed to an exact niche (or small group) of the whole market, have better sales and long term business success. By targeting a niche market, a business has better opportunity for repeat sales and personal referrals as they become established as an expert among their niche market.
For no other industry is this nice marketing as important as it is for your magazine business opportunity. Obviously it would be much harder to make a successful magazine if you target the nation as a whole. The more specific of a niche you find to write your magazine for the much greater your chances of success.
You Will Need Enough Capital to Keep Your Magazine Business Opportunity Afloat
Perhaps the place where most people attempting magazine publishing go under is not having enough capital to wait for the magazine to start making money. This may take awhile. Some start up magazines have started by making a black and white flyer version of their magazine idea and distributing it for free, before eventually turning it into a full color paid magazine.
Your magazine business opportunity will need enough financial backing to stay afloat until you can get your title established in the market place which will make you appealing to the advertisers. Once you have a good advertising base built along with a solid base of readers from your niche market, you magazine has joined the others at the newsstand!
