An Increasing Number of Business Opportunity Owners are Living Without Health Insurance
The numbers of people without health insurance is increasing daily in America; many of these people are business opportunity owners.
The ever increasing and often already unaffordable cost of health care and health insurance is a national concern. As a result of these costs, the numbers of people without health insurance is at an epidemic proportion.
The cost of health care and health insurance is the ultimate cause of the problem at hand; however it can't be overlooked that the problem has grown to epidemic proportion in recent years, largely because more and more Americans are choosing to leave traditional employment and turn to a business opportunity.
As the numbers of self employed and small business owners grows, those numbers also get reflected in the numbers of uninsured because most business opportunity owners can not afford to purchase an insurance policy for themselves, their families, and any employees that they may hire.
Add this to the fact that many companies which once offered insurance to their employees have had to stop offering it, or require that their employees pay more of the premium, to cut expenses and keep the business solvent, and you have epidemic numbers of people without health insurance coverage.
Owning a Business Opportunity Can be Hazardous to Your Health
Many business opportunity owners often can not afford to purchase health insurance at all. Others, because it is all they can afford, will buy minimal plans with high deductibles, intended only to keep them from bankruptcy if the "worst case scenario" happens and they end up in the hospital. In both of these situations trips to doctors for physicals, wellness checks or screenings would most likely be paid fully out of pocket by the individual.
Add to that the fact that the business opportunity owner is typically very busy and lives by the
"time is money" rule. For all of these reasons, most business opportunity owners do not go to the doctor and get the check ups and screening that are necessary for a long and healthy life.
How Can a Business Opportunity Owner Get Access to Affordable Health Insurance?
Businesses which hire a lot of employees get discounted health insurance rates because of the "buying power" that comes in numbers. Business opportunity owners typically do not need more than one (or a few if you have a couple of employees) policy, so rates are much higher when he approaches the insurance agent.
Small business Associations have formed to give small business the same "buying power" as large business in many things and health insurance is one of the most important. Through joining with others in a Business Association, the small business owners will now have the "buying power" required to get better rates on health insurance policies.
Unfortunately, even the lower rates can still be too expensive for some business opportunity owners to afford, which is one of the reasons why affordable health care and health insurance needs to be addressed in America.
