It's like a dream for most of us - to be able to work at home because we can then have the best of both worlds. The advantages of being able to work at home are many, and in this article, I'll outline a few of them.

When you work at home, of course, you don't have a boss staring you down every other 5 minutes. You don't have to get up at insane hours just to join everyone else in the jam-packed roads outside. You can sleep in, trot lazily out of your bedroom and into your home office and send a fax or email to your client without, first, brushing your teeth. When you are working at home, no one cares about bad breath, your old fashioned thinking, your clothes and your table manners - WHO CARES?

Total Control over Your Work at Home Projects
In the corporate world, whether you like it or detest it, you have to take on whatever your boss hands you. Normally, that would be something he/she hates doing. If he/she hates writing reports, guess whose desk he or she will dump it on? No prizes for guessing.
When you're working from home, the absolutely amazing thing is this: you get to decide with whom you want to work with, how you want to work with this guy and how much you want to get paid for it! Total and complete freedom. If you hate the way a client talks to you, you can just tell him/her to stop giving you projects without having to contend with your boss asking you for an explanation for your actions.

Doing What we Love from Home
Yes, another perk for people who work at home is that we get to pick and choose what we love. Someone I know does whatever she can do best at the point in time - she could be writing for the first 3 months of her work at home career and then knitting handbags for the next 3 and then suddenly, she's teaching ballet!
But that's the wonderful thing about being able to work from home - you can do whatever you want with your life and nobody dares say a word about it. Well, maybe your mother will but hey, it's really easy to worm your way out with mothers!
No Office Politics When You Work at Home
One of the worst things in the office environment, I have learnt, is the when there's lots of red tape, and office politics. I had to endure a 6-month wait at one point in time just to get a phone line for my desk. And it was a crucial part of my work too - I HAD TO deal with people over the phone. And when I can't meet the dateline, I get shouted at.
When you're working from home, you may have no one to talk to but hey, at least there aren't anyone talking ABOUT you behind your back. Imagine if someone said you were trying to suck up to the boss when you're only walking past his office to get to the bathroom because you have a bladder infection.
Geez, the mouth on those people.
