- Women's ICT Center (FS)
USTDA received a request for funding from
the Coalition Provisional Authority for a feasibility study on
the development and establishment of a Women's Information and
Communi-cations Technology (ICT) Training and On-Line Learning
Center in Iraq (Women's ICT Center). The feasibility
study will develop and market a project implementation plan
for the Women's ICT Center and examine possibilities for
developing elements of E- and D-learning in Iraq. The
Women's ICT Center will be equipped with U.S. sourced
equipment and housed in, and managed by, the Iraqi Institute
for Computing and Informatics, a university that is part of
the Ministry of Higher Education
and Scientific Research's network of institutions. The
establishment of the Women's ICT Center will provide targeted
training in the use of ICT to
Iraqi women. The feasibility study will be expected
to produce results in three of the USTDA's
development indicators: human capacity building, technology transfer and
productivity improvement, and infrastructure and industrialization.
