Opportunities for Scholars

About the Academic Environment in the U.S.
The academic environment in the United States is considerably different than those in many other countries. Furthermore, the environment can be different for faculty, students, and within research institutions.

Admissions
In addition to individuals who are beginning graduate or professional study, many mid-career scholars also travel to the United States, whether to participate in postdoctoral research, to lecture, to consult, or to gain additional training.

Financial Aid
Take every step possible to secure adequate funding for research. Arrangements for funding visiting researchers and scholars vary greatly.

Visas
Study in the United States requires that students have a student visa. There are no exceptions. There are different types of student visas, however, and information on the varieties and how to apply can be found here.
