Ballaghadereen is
a coarse angling centre located in North Co Roscommon, one mile from the Lung
River in the west of Ireland on the national primary route, the N5, 15 miles
from Knock Airport, 30 miles from Sligo and 50 miles from Galway.
WHERE TO FISH
The Lung river is 18 miles long
with 6 major connecting lakes rising in Cloonaugh, Urlaur, Errit, Cloonaholly,
Loughglynn and drains into Lough Gara, north of Ballaghadereen town. The size of
these lakes varies from 500 - 2000 acres.
The Lung system is a tributary to
the Shannon and it's sister river the Breedoge, Frenchpark. The system is one of
the important angling centres in the region and has plenty of fishing to offer.

ANGLING FEES
There is no rod licence for coarse and pike fishing
on the River Shannon. Check with the local angling club regarding any local
fees.
Share Certificates: A Share Certificate payable to the North
Shannon Development Co-Operative Society is required to fish the
Upper Shannon and tributaries located upstream of Banagher Bridge on the
Shannon in Co Offaly. Please contact the Co -Operative Society for up
to date information on rates and distributors as the Shannon Regional
