The Name of Parties Owning the Political Domain
The political landscape of the United States of America is complex, to say the least, especially in whose names are in the political domain. What has made it so complex is the need for everyone except, it appears, Republicans to branch out and divide. Republicans stick together despite the fact that their party may not represent even half of the ideals they are accustomed to supporting. On the other side of the spectrum we see the Democrats who have many different people who are dividing at a rapid rate into what may be termed as mini parties.
As was evident in the last election, many of those who voted for John Kerry were not Democrats in name; as their affiliation was in the "other party" domain. Just how many people are deciding to go for a third party name, and, in some respects a better party, is surprisingly large.
A New Name for the Political Domain
A true third party acknowledgement would be a boon to the citizens of the United States of America, allowing for an interesting new political party domain. Where whether you are a republican or a democrat is a mote point. It would increase voter awareness of key issues, as well as increase awareness of the other names in the political domain. As all candidates would be given equal air time in all media. Debates would include all of the candidates not just the two chosen by the amount of money they can spend.
A new name for this type of campaign for the growing third party could be called the true reform movement. How difficult would it have been, really, to add more podiums for the other presidential candidates to address the issues. It becomes more of a forum rather than a debate; this an argument that can be used either for or against this solution. One would think that a forum would be a good solution, though, to get an idea of all the candidates rather than just two from the more known party names.
Corporations Name the Domain
Corporations are a dominate force in the political name machine. Who they decide to portray on the air waves is who is in the public forum, this is a very narrow view. This type of narrow view creates the skewed policy in the United States that is the two party system. When in reality this two party is not separate. Look into the Republican agenda and then again at the Democratic, they are merely mirrors of each other with little differences. Their rhetoric may say something different, however, when you look at the political actions they are very similar.
Corporations need the status quo. The two party system gives a status quo approach, no matter who is elected the country will remain the same. The real issues will remain in the hands of the corporations who portray the names of the poltical domain. Corporations don't directly pay the legislature to control the domain, however, it is controlling it. The political domain is owned by the corporations and they control the names that will or won't appear on the political landscape. This is control.
