Mr. President, Foreign Minister, good afternoon. I am very proud that I am about to present my credentials from President Bush of the United States. I am honored that he has selected me to serve in this most important diplomatic assignment of the highest priority to our national security and our foreign policy.
I bring you greetings from President Bush and Secretary Powell and the most fervent wishes that your country be successful in the consolidation of its freedom and democracy and the restoration of peace and tranquility.
You may be certain that as I carry out my diplomatic functions here and at the Embassy of the United States of America, that we will do everything in our ability, in our power, to support your government and the people of Iraq as it strives to realize its dreams for freedom, democracy, and peace.
