Bruce Morrison
Chief Information Officer, Bureau of Information Resource Management
Term of Appointment: 02/25/2004 to present

Bruce Morrison was appointed Chief Information Officer, Bureau of Information Resource Management on February 25, 2004. Previously, Mr. Morrison was Acting Chief Information Officer for the past fourteen months and Deputy Chief Information Officer for Operations in the Bureau of Information Resource Management from March 2001 - December 2002.

During his 28-year career, he has held a succession of information management positions.

Prior to returning to the Bureau of Information Resource Management in March 2001, Mr. Morrison was the Dean of the School for Applied Information Technology in the Foreign Service Institute. His career has taken him to three continents. Specifically, he was a Computer Systems Manager in Tokyo, Computer Systems Administrator for the entire East Asian and Pacific Bureau, Assistant to the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Information Systems, Director of the Information Management Planning Office, Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Information Management Planning and Development, Associate Comptroller for International Financial Services, and Director of the Financial Services Center (FSC) in Paris which serves Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. His first two assignments were as a General Service Officer in Belgrade and later in Prague.

Mr. Morrison is a career Senior Foreign Service Officer. He joined the Foreign Service in 1976 from New York. He was graduated from Hunter College and went on to earn his Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University. His awards include the 2002 Presidential Meritorious Service Award, the 2000 Luther I. Replogle Award for Management Improvement, two Superior Honor Awards and a group Meritorious Honor Award.
