LAST GASP GRAYLING

As the coarse season draws to a close, spectacular fishing can be had with that lovely fish, the grayling.

The fish are in absolutely tip-top condition in March and their colours are simply wonderful. Gear? A nine or nine and a half foot, six-weight is about perfect so check out the Swift, the Gem, the Origin and the Sirrus series. All of them nice, light and precise – perfect for quick biting fish in often tangled situations. You’ll be using light tippets so the performance of a Gem, Angel or UDLA reel will be critical. A three pound tippet, a selection of nymphs and off you go. Many trout rivers have good stocks of grayling, and they will often feed when the temperatures fall below zero.
Try it sometime - and have fun!
