For your own sake, conscience and safety, I implore you to think twice about getting involved / doing business with Bali Discovery Tours in Sanur. Why? The full (long) story can be found here: Bali Discovery Tours Sanur. The short version follows;

I publish these substantiated facts that show how John Millard Daniels (AKA Jack Daniels CEO of PT Bali Discovery Tours);
1) Was caught by me offering unauthorized hotel rates on the Internet and was forced to remove them by the hotel.
2) Then mistranslated an email from me (to businesses in Bali) to make a revengeful false & malicious police complaint against me.
3) Persuaded the Balinese police to investigate me using methods which were described as "totally illegal" by the British Embassy in Jakarta, who then intervened on my behalf (embassy intervention is a very rare event).
4) Subsequently tried to convince / insult the world into believing it was not him that made the complaint by using very selective / careful denials.
5) Colluded with senior police officers / committed criminal libel in Bali and is therefore himself a criminal under Indonesian law.
6) Colluded with the Balinese police to try and have me branded as an "enemy of Indonesia" (for calling "some police officers corrupt" - when this is a well published fact anyway); a "crime" that carries the death penalty in Bali / Indonesia!
7) Can be circumstantially linked to a telephone death threat I received, which coincidently came around the same time Jack Daniels managed to "convince" a senior Balinese police officer to investigate me for a "crime" that potentially carries the death penalty.
8) How Jack Daniels / Bali Discovery Tours try to wriggle out of my own ground breaking legal action against him / them in the USA. Not by denying the charges, but by falsely claiming they were not served properly, and that US courts have no jurisdiction over him (an American citizen)! The later point is the problem, and Jack Daniels won the first round (the court ruled we had not presented enough evidence that they had jurisdiction over him and dismissed the case). But this ruling does not vindicate Daniels in any way, or express his innocence. In fact, many would say, it shows his cowardly ways and the truth by token of the fact he had advantage of nationality in a US court and could have used it to clear himself of the charges brought against him. And the appeal process, to allow the US courts to try one of their own citizens residing in Indonesia is under way.

My unwavering determination, for the good of Bali and travellers generally, is to have Jack Daniels put in jail for his crimes, and then be subsequently deported for breach of his visa conditions. To have PT Bali Discovery Tours of Sanur closed down for breach of their licence conditions. For two police officers in particular, Drs Budi Setiawan and Kombes Boy Salamudin to be investigated for collusion and acting outside their authority & jurisdiction. For Daniels' / Bali Discovery Tours' lawyer Lijaya Suryatin to be investigated for collusion and possible corruption (paying the police bribe money from Daniels) with police officer Salamudin. And yes, you can be sure having said all this, I have the proof I need. If I did not, PT Bali Discovery Tours would have this web site closed down in a heart beat. The trouble for them is they can not prevent the / this truth from being published outside Bali / Indonesia. The trouble for me is bringing justice to people like Bali Discovery Tours' CEO and his senior Balinese police officer "friends" within Indonesia is a slow, difficult process of course.

An American who likes to be called Jack in an apparent attempt to be linked to the liquor of the same name (I am sure he needs this liquid, to help suppress any conscience he may have). He has connections with senior police officers in Bali and I can categorically prove he abuses his position to file false and malicious police complaints / have the police act outside their authority and jurisdiction against me, Mark Austin. All because I caught him offering unauthorized hotel rates on the Internet! He was not happy. I think it is safe to say Jack Daniels thinks himself king of the Balinese tourism industry. And that his pompous, self righteous, pious pride got dented! People might think, the way he acted, he tried his hand at Internet fraud by offering unauthorized hotel rates knowingly.

Jack Daniels / Bali Discovery Tours play word games by making selectively worded denials (e.g. In an article J.M. Daniels / Bali Discovery Tours published on their web site, balidiscovery dot com in June 2003, he denies making a "false and malicious police complaint" against me in December 2002, but never simply denies making the complaint or being the "informant"). Daniels / Bali Discovery go on to announce how they are then, subsequently, having the police investigate me for criminal libel and other allegations he is too ashamed to admit to. But it is within what he hastily / foolishly written, that the truth about Jack Daniels and PT Bali Discovery Tours is there for everyone to see!
