Backup Your Files

Backup can be one of the most important things you can do for your computer. What if a virus began to infect your computer? What if your computer crashed? What if a hacker broke into your computer, damaging it beyond repair? I repeat, backup can be one of the most important things you can do for your computer. If you don't, then your files or your computer, may be lost for good. Your entire business or hobbies could be gone forever. Backup is an easy process that only takes a floppy disk and a few extra moments of your time.

Backup Made Easy

Look at the simple floppy disk, for example. They range in size from 720 K to 1.44 MB. To save a file on one of these, all you have to do is place it into the floppy drive. Backup the file using the save as option and you have avoided any possible frustrations. There can be no easier way to backup your files. The other media forms of backup can be just as easy to use. Zip drives, CD burners, and secondary hard drives are all backup possibilities.

They range in price from around one-hundred dollars and up. They are just as popular as the floppy and as reliable. However, as with any manufactured product there exists the possibility of failure. Therefore, it couldn't hurt to backup your files more than just once.

Backup - Backup - Backup

You could not emphasize enough the importance of backing up your entire computer and files. Why would a writer spend most of his time working and have all of it lost to a computer failure? Why would anyone, for that matter, spend so much of their precious time at a computer keyboard and not backup their files? It is such a simple process to save your files into another form of media.

Backup Step by Step

You have spent hours writing a report or some other form of work and you have completed your file. Next, you must save it. Normally, with any program, there is a floppy icon at the top. This option will save your file onto the hard drive, usually into a folder called, documents. After that, it is time to backup the file. In the upper left hand corner of most programs is the word file. Click onto this and scan downward to save as. This option brings up another dialog box.

Here is where you change media. If you have chosen the floppy disk, it is usually found under the a-drive. Now you would click onto save, or whatever option is highlighted and your file is safe and sound in another media form. Zip drives and secondary hard drives usually have same process, but a CD burner is somewhat different to use. If you follow the manufacturers instructions, the process should be relatively easy and enjoyable.

All in all, backup is the easiest and one of the most important things you can do for your computer.
