Jeremy Arrey, and Amber Mongenel caught 5 mahi and some aku and shibi

We got a 5:00 start on this day of 20 mph trades going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we only caught bait, so we set up and trolled outside. We only got a little ways and hooked up in an open school, we got one wahine. The next fish was a big bully and Amber got that one. Our next hook up was a blind strike and Jeremy got another mahi. Then it was Amber's turn again and another big bully hooked up and she got it. On our way in we got one more mahi on the ledge. In the harbor the fish got to keep their eyes today, These guys did a great job and had fun doing it too, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Donna and Joe Govert caught 16 mahi and some aku and shibi
|
We got underway at 4:30 on this day of 20 mph trades going to another buoy. We caught a strange looking fish in the early morning, it was a snake headed herring or a walu in hawaiian. At the buoy we took a single mahi hit and got it, and then another single, and another and another, till we had 6. Then we caught some baits and when we caught an aku and put it out a bunch of mahis came around and Scot baited up 4 in that one pass. Then we set up and trolled to my favorite buoy, on the way we got a mahi in the blind. At the buoy we caught some baits and ran them live, something was chopping our akus and shibis in half as we reeled them in. So we ran a bait with a trailing wire leader hook, it never got hit. Then some mahi came around and Scot baited up 5 more before we headed in. Joe and Donna did great reeling these fish in, they were a pleasure to fish with. In the harbor they both ate fish eyeballs gladly, I like it. Aloha Capt Rusty

The Evans Family Luke, Kayla, Sonia, Vicki, and Chris caught 13 mahi and 3 shibi for a fun day

We pulled out at 5:00 on this day of 20 mph trades going to my favorite buoy. We hooked up one mahi on our first pass and baited up one more. Then we caught some aku and shibi and ran them live. A few more mahi came around and we got them one at a time. We baited and Scot hooked up some 20 pound shibi on light line and we got 3 of them. Then a big marlin came around and looked at our live akus and did not get excited enough to eat one, we got excited. Then we headed in and found an open school of mahi and got 2 nice big ones out of it. Then it was one open school after another for a while and we ended up with 13 mahi. These folks did real well on this sorta windy day, they are seaworthy. Aloha Capt Rusty

Paul and Nova Earhart, and Audra Ramerman caught 25 mahi and some aku and shibi

We got a 5:00 start on this day of 25 mph trades going to my next favorite buoy. We got one mahi on the way to the buoy. At the buoy we took a triple and baited up 2 more to get 5 on our first pass. Then we baited up some more, and got 2 or 3 at a time. Then we caught some aku and shibi and ran them live, and got some more mahi to end up with 13. Then we went to the next buoy and got one mahi trolling, then baited up a bunch more, one pass we got 6 at one time. On our last bait pass Scot baited up a nice 20 pound shibi on light line. On the way in we got one more mahi to end up with 25. These folks did a great job of reeling all these fish in, they were all very seaworthy. In the harbor Paul, Nova, and Audra all ate eyeballs without to much pressure. Good going, you guys did great. Aloha Capt Rusty

Bob Gaines, Dave Kelly, and Dino Miranda caught 1 barracuda and 20 mahi and some aku and shibi

We got a 5:00 start on this day of 25 mph trades going to my next favorite buoy. We got a barracuda and 2 mahi on the way to the buoy. Near the buoy we took a marlin hit that screamed out 600 yards of line and then broke line on us, bummer. At the buoy we took a triple and got 2 of them, then baited up some more 1 or 2 at a time, till we had about 15 of them, then we went to another buoy. There we baited up 5 more mahi to end up with 20. Bob did a great job reeling in all these fish. Aloha Capt Rusty

Laurie Rich, Randy Williams and Jim Rich caught 1 big 40 pound ono and 23 mahi for a fun day
|
We got underway at 4:55 on this day of 30 mph trades going to my next favorite buoy. At the buoy we took a 4 banger mahi and got all of them. Next pass we took a triple and got all 3, and lost a lure to an ono. Then we made a bait pass and got 12 more, then we trolled up a few more and headed in. On the way we got one more mahi and a big 40 pound ono that Jim reeled in. These folks were real troppers to reel in all these fish in the extremly rough water we had today. Laurie gets high marks for being able to get sick and then go back and reel in more fish, good going. In the harbor only Jim was up for an eyeball pupu. These were some fun to fish with folks. We got a late start at 9:00 going to my favorite buoy on this day of 25 mph trades. We got 2 mahi on the way there, and only one on bait at the buoy. We caught some baits and then set up and trolled on outside. We found a big bird pile and took a triple mahi coming up to it, and got 2 of those. Then we took a double small shibi and a mahi. It seemed like there was a floater around but we did not find it. We got a few more mahi trolling and then the birds flew out of the area. We got one more on the way in to make it 13. These guys were not the eyeball eating type. They did great reeling these fish in,good going men. Aloha Capt rusty

Donald Mullaney, Mark Owens,and Jamie and Nicole Webb caught 35 mahi and 1 ono and 1 ulua and some aku and shibi too

We got going at 5:00 going to my favorite buoy on this day of 25 mph trades. We hooked up an ulua on the way and got it. Then we hooked a mahi in the blind and got it. At the buoy we took a triple and got them all, second pass we got another triple. Then we baited up a few more and then caught some baits, and set up and trolled out. We took a triple and the water turned blue with mahi and we baited up a bunch, there was a floater but we never did find it. We took an ono hit and got it, while looking for the floater. It was some wild action for awhile there, mahi fishing as good as it gets. These folks did a great job of reeling all these fish in. We ended up with 35 mahi for a great day of fishing. In the harbor only Jamie and Mark were game to eat mahi eyeballs, good going guys. These were some great people to fish with, and Nicole looked real good in orange. Aloha capt Rusty

Betsy, Willard, and Alex Foley caught 15 mahi and 1 aku and some shibi for fun day

We departed the harbor at 5:00 on this windy day of 25+ nnw winds going to my favorite buoy. We took a double on the way there and got 2 nice mahi. On our first pass at the buoy we took a triple and got all three. Second pass we took a single on lures and baited up 5 more for some wild action. Then we jigged up some baits and ran a live shibi and a dead aku, Scot baited up 5 more mahi 1 or 2 at a time. Then a big marlin came up and ate our aku, it started shaking it's head like it felt the hook too soon and ran a ways and then came off, bummer. On the way in we had a blind strike and had one more mahi on but it came off. Oh did I mention that it was an extremly rough day today, well it was wet and wild all the way, that is part of the reason the fish cooperated so well. These folks did great considering how rough it was out there. They had raingear on all day long. In the harbor they all participated in the eyeball eating ritual, I like it. They get the Capt Rusty seaworthiness thumbs up. Aloha Capt Rusty

Denise and Stanley Gerhauser, and Staci and Robinson Usagani caught 1 ono and 1 mahi and some aku and shibi

We got a 7:00 start after Scot had to put in a new starter in the morning as the starboard engine did not start, on this day of 10 mph winds going to my next favorite buoy. We got an ono strike on the ledge and Stan got to reel it in, a nice one about 25 pounds. Then we got a small mahi in the blind. A while later we lost a blind mahi strike. At the buoy we caught an aku and a shibi and ran them live. A nice marlin came in and looked at them both and did not get excited enough to eat one, bummer. Then a mahi ate the live aku and jumped and came off. Back in the harbor only Stanley was up to eating an eyeball. These were some fun folks to fish with. Aloha Capt Rusty
