Alan Millage, Adam Miller, Brad Nau, Bridget Millage, Ryan Millage, and Brandon Nau caught 27 mahi 1 ono and 1 aku
|
We got going at 5:00 on this day of 25 mph trades going to my favorite buoy. At the buoy we caught some small aku and ran them live, and before long we had a mahi on one and we baited up 4 of them. Then we went outside and found a few open schools, then we found a log, 10 feet long an 10 inches around, and loaded with mahi. We got a few trolling then went to baiting and had a few passes where we got 6 or 7 a pass, it was as good as mahi fishing gets. At the end of our time there we hooked a big bully on 80 pound test and Brad got to battle that 42 pounder for a while before it came to the boat. Back in the harbor only Alan was game to eat an eyeball out of a mahi, good going. It was a rought day and these folks did a great job of handeling the big seas, well most of them. They fish alot and it was apparent, they did great. Aloha Capt Rusty

The Herrin Family Lisa, Clifford, Charlie, and Charlie Jr. caught 19 mahi and one 180 pound marlin and 1 ono for a fantastic day of fishing

We got out of the harbor at 5:00 on this day of 15 mph north winds going to my favorite buoy. At the buoy we caught some small aku and ran them live as usual, and before long there was a mahi on one of them and Scot quickly baited it up. After we got it aboard we headed back towards the buoy and a marlin came up on one of our akus and was nice enough to eat it down. It never did jump at all, and we got Clifford in the chair to fight it. It only took about 25 minutes to get it to the boat and on the gaff. I had been conking it on the head for awhile when it made a radical thrashing and almost jumped into the boat, and almost got away, it was a wild thing, but we got it under control in the end. Then we headed outside, and found open school after open school and got 5 mahi by the time we were 20 miles out, then we found a coil of rope floating that was holding lots of mahi. We trolled some up then baited, they did not follow so well so we went back to trolling and they hooked up better. We got an ono on one pass and baited up some more mahi. We ended up with19 mahi. These folks did great, they loved to fish and it showed. In the harbor Charlie ate an eyeball from a mahi, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Kara Brase, and Zachary, and John Johnson caught 18 mahi and 2 onos and some aku and shibi for a fun day
|
We left the harbor at 5:00 on this day of 15 mph north winds going to my favorite buoy. We caught some aku and shibi and ran them live, and before long there was a mahi following one and Scot baited it up and we got it. Next pass we got 2 on bait, then some more singles till we had 6, then set up and trolled outside. At about 18 miles we found a floating part of a 55 gallon drum and got 11 more mahi there some on lures and some on bait, wild action it was. On our way back in we came on a big rope floating and got 1 more mahi and 2 onos off of it. Close to the harbor we got a great whale show with several jumping out of the water fairly close to the boat. In the harbor both Zachary and John ate eyeballs out of the mahis. These folks did great. Mark Jones, and Glenda and Rance Brown caught 24 mahi and 2 ono and some aku and shibi for a great day
|
We got underway at 5:00 going to my next favorite buoy on this day of 20 mph trades. At the buoy we only caught small aku and shibi, then we went outside and at 20 miles out we found a 4 inch around and 20 feet long rope floating and holding mahi and ono. We got a few trolling then went to baiting and they just kept comming, we had a few passes where we got 6 at a time. It was some wild action, mahi fishing as good as it gets, the biggest one was a 32 pound bully. In the end we set up and trolled for onos and got 2, one a nice 20 pounder. Back in the harbor both Rance and Mark ate eyeballs out of the mahis. These were some good guys to fish with, they did great reeling in all those fish,good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Paul McIntyre, Matthew Reber, and Jeremy Coddington caught 22 mahi and 2 shibi for a great day of fishing

We got underway at 5:30 on this day of 25+ trades going to my next favorite buoy. We got a mahi on the way there, and then got a shibi on our first pass at the buoy. We baited up 3 more there then we went out and found 2 open schools and got 7 in one and 4 in the other. Then we went to another bouy and got a bunch more mahi to end up with 22 for a day of wild action. These guys all did a great job with the rough water and lots of reeling. In the harbor Jeremy and Matthew both ate the eyeballs out of a shibi and a mahi. Good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

We got going at 6:00 going to my favorite buoy on this day of 25+ trades. We got some small aku and shibi and ran them live, before long there was a mahi following one of them and Scot baited it up. On the next pass Scot baited up 6 mahi at once for a real wild action packed pass. We got 3 more to end up with 10. We went to another buoy and only got bait there. In the harbor both of them ate eyeballs gladly. I like it. It was a fun day. Aloha Capt Rusty

David, Catherine, and Judy McCann caught 1 blue marlin 217# and 5 mahi and some aku and shibi
|
We got underway at 5:00 on this day of 15 mph winds going to a far fad. We caught some baits and then baited up 2 mahi on light line and then set up and trolled on out. We went to another buoy and only jigged for a short while and then set up and trolled on down. Outside Sunset beach we hooked a nice big marlin and Catherine got in the chair and did a great job reeling it in with a little help from David and Scot. She had it to the boat in about 40 minutes, good job. Then we got 3 more mahi in open schools on the way in. In the harbor both David and Cathrine ate the lenses out of a mahi and a shibi. These are some real avid fisherpeople, they did great at all the angeling we did, good going. Aloha Capt Rusty

Dan Healy, and Kathi Yackley caught 1 blue marlin170#, 1 stripped marlin 70# 2 mahi and 1 ono and some aku and shibi for our second clean sweep of the year
|
We got under way at 5:00 going to my next favorite buoy on this day of 20 mph trades. We only got some small baits at the buoy and no mahi, so we set up and trolled on outside. We hooked a stripper and Dan reeled it in fast, and we got it. Farther out we found a old crusty tire floating and got an ono and a mahi off it, that made for a clean sweep, two days in a row. When we set up to troll for onos after baiting the mahi we hooked up the blue marlin and Dan had it to the boat in about 20 minutes. On our way in we got one more mahi in an open school. In the harbor both Dan and Kathi ate eyeballs from the mahis. These folks did great. It was a fun day all the way around. Aloha Capt Rusty

Justin Edgar, and Guy Kosmoski caught 1 marlin, 19 mahi, 1 ono, and some aku and shibi for our first clean sweep of the year

We got going at 5:00 going to my next favorite buoy on this day of 20 mph trades. On our way we got a mahi and an ono on a floater ball to start things off. At the buoy we took a shibi mahi combo hit and got them both. We came back with bait and the mahi just kept comming and Scot kept hooking them up. We got 19 and then went to another buoy and only got bait there. On the way in we hooked the marlin and Guy did a great job reeling it in, it had the best light up when we got it to the boat. That made for our first clean sweep of the year. In the harbor they both ate eyeballs. These guys did a really good job of angeling all these fish, good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty

Tony and Alex Castellvi caught 2 stripped marlin, 22 mahi and one shibi for a great day of fishing

We got a 5:00 start on this nasty day of 30 mph north winds going to my next favorite buoy. We got 2 mahi on the way up the ledge, then 2 strippers near the buoy. At the buoy we took a shibi and a mahi hit and got them both. Then we baited up some mahi 2 or 3 at a time, untill a marlin came around and looked at our teaser but did not eat it, bummer. Then we jigged and got a mahi on an aku lure, then baited up 5 more. We ended up with 19 as we left the buoy. On the way in we got 3 more mahi for 22. In the harbor both guys ate eyeballs. These guys handeled the extremely rough water real well, they are seaworthy guys to be shure. Good going men. Aloha Capt Rusty
