RIDING LOCATIONS: We usually ride at three locations: the nearby Hankinson Sandhills which has a new 8 mile trail, beautiful Sica Hollow State Park of South Dakota with 12 miles of trail, or the 70,200 acre North Dakota Sheyenne National Grasslands which has 32 miles of the North Country Trail. Other possible locations are Fort Ransom. Maplewood Park, MN, or camping excursions.
Waiver, Children, Minimum Requirements: "Waiver", under 250#'s, over age 12, physically/mentally able and shoes. We require each rider to read and sign our liability waiver. Children must be at least 12 years old to trail ride. For children under 18 both legal parents or guardian signatures must be on the liability waiver. A rider's weight limit to trail ride a Huufda horse is 250 pounds. We advise riding with a helmet. We have four helmets available, but the fit may not be as good as your own. Children under age 12 may ride in the round pen with a constant attendant for $20. If they are experienced riders and demonstrate a sitting trot and lope without a bounce from the saddle, they may ride in the arenas. SUGGESTIONS to Wear and Bring. Shoes: For your riding comfort and safety, shoes must cover your foot. No thick soles as these don't fit the stirrups, and flip flops or sandals don't go. We recommend wearing boots with heels. Clothing: We suggest that you wear long pants and long sleeve shirts to protect you from bugs and tree branches, a helmet or a hat or cap that stays on, and sunglasses for eye protection from branches. Checking our local weather for the day may be helpful. Additional: Seasonal item suggestions are as follows: gloves, rain gear, coats, bug repellant, camera, and sun screen. The additional items that are not worn or items that can fall or blow off and loose flapping items will stay with the vehicle for safety. Food: You may also want to bring along snacks and beverages.
