Both international treaties and domestic laws have been implemented to promote long term global conservation of fish and wildlife resources. The plant or animal that you wish to import, export, or transfer across state boundaries may be protected by more than one treaty, law, or regulation. To determine if the species that your activity will involve is protected domestically by the Endangered Species Act, please visit http://endangered.fws.gov/wildlife.html. To determine if the species of plant or animal is protected internationally by the CITES treaty, please access the official list of CITES species or the CITES species database on the Secretariat's website. The FWS unofficial list in an easy-to-use format is being revised and is temporarily unavailable.
