More and more people are using Credit cards to pay for their bills or purchases as it is convenient and credit card payments are readily accepted through out the world. They also use credit cards to make payment over the Internet and believe that it is very secure and beneficial to do so, but still there are some people who are hesitant and apprehensive about sharing their personal information and believe that it is not safe to use credit cards over the internet.
Making safe and secure online transactions is a matter of concern to every person today. Some of the security issues pertaining to the usage of a credit card for making payments over the internet are discussed below.

Payments can be made by using basic credit cards information over the network of phone lines or computers and this was observed to be the easiest and fastest process of credit card payment with the least amount of inconvenience caused to the customer. Now-a-days the information exchanged over the internet regarding credit cards are in encrypted form and it limits the unauthorized access by other people such as hackers and is fairly safe.
There is another system known as Secure Electronic Transfer (SET) developed by Master Card and Visa is also in place to make your online transactions safer. Using third-party verification some what eliminates the security concern regarding online transactions. In these types of transactions a third-party verifies the credentials of both the paying and receiving parties before allowing the transaction to take place.
This also helps to solve the problems of security and verification of the credit card holder as the third-party verifies all of the details before any transactions take place.
Dangers of Using Credit Cards Online
There is always a risk involved in making a payment using credit card over the internet. There is a danger of your credit card details being hacked by hackers, as a result of that it may damage your credibility and harm you in many more ways. Then there is the problem of validation in ensuring that the rightful owner of the credit card is using it to make the payment online.
While unlawful usage of credit card for buying products from shops requires a person to produce the credit card, but for buying products or sending money to different parts of the world requires an offender to only know about the details of the credit card and the account holder. This is where it becomes easy to cheat over the internet as one don't have to be present physically as in shops or offices to make an online transaction.
Some of the websites store your credit cards details so that you do your online transactions easily in future but it leads to more risks as your credit card details can easily be hacked by the hackers from the database of these websites specially if the security precautions used are not enough.
