Credit Cards and Bad Credit Do Not Mix

If you already have bad credit or are getting to that point of having bad credit, do not go out and get a credit card! Credit cards are the highest cause of bad credit. Matter of fact do not get a credit card you may not be able to pay for even if you have good credit. Credit cards have this bad reputation because people get the cards and then do not pay the bill. This allows for the companies to keep charging interest, which rakes up your bill even higher. It is a never ending battle. Bad credit, no credit cards, please?

Bad Credit Caused by Credit Cards

If you have bad credit because of credit card debt, you should get help right away to fix this problem. You have several options to get rid of credit card debt and make your credit good again. A debt consolidation loan is the easiest way to get rid of the debt. With a debt consolidation loan you can pay off the credit cards and then cancel the cards to keep you from getting in to that debt again. You are left with only one payment instead of several. This will allow for your bad credit to get good again. We all want and need good credit at some point in our lives.

Pay off Bad Credit with a Low Interest Rate Credit Card

You may be one of us who now has bad credit because of things like student loans. Some student loans have high interest rates. If you choose to transfer the high interest rate loans to a low interest rate credit card, then you should defiantly pay less for the loan in the long run, supposing you make your monthly payments on schedule. Even with a low interest credit card, you are better off the pay more than the monthly minimum payment each month. This will insure that you pay even less interest.

Credit Card Companies Check Your Credit Score Often

Your credit card company may check your credit score once in a while to see if your score is good or bad. With this information the company can raise you interest rate on your card just for having some bad credit. Sounds crazy, but it is true. Check your credit card statements closely every month, they can change the interest rate with out even telling you. If you have a good credit score then this is less likely to happen to you.

If you have a bad credit score then well, who knows what you may be charged in interest charges next month. When the credit card companies raise your interest rate and you do not know, you may go over your balance limit with out realizing it. Then you have to pay overage charges, also. If you check your credit report at least once a year for errors and such, you may be able to stop this from happening to you.
