Some
of the TOP Hotels in Bali
Bali's
most famous and crowded resort is Kuta beach, a six-kilometre
sweep of golden sand, with plenty of accommodation,
shops and nightlife. Nearby Sanur is much quieter, but
most backpackers prefer the beaches of peaceful east-coast
Candi Dasa and traveller-oriented Lovina on the north
coast. The island's other major destination is the cultural
centre of Ubud , a still charming but undeniably commercialized
overgrown village, where traditional dances are staged
every night of the week and the streets are full of
arts-and-crafts galleries.

from
Gorontalo by ship There are many ships of all sizes
to Bitung, Rp6-7000, 20 hours; and sometimes ships to
Kendari and Poso. Surya Shipping Co., JI. Hati Mulia
3/34, has ships, to: Surabaya, Rp22,500, 5 days, about
3-4 ships a month; Ternate, Rp13,750, 2 days, once monthly.
Sriwijaya Shipping Co., in the same office, has ships
to Ujung Pandang, Rp21,000, 4 days, once monthly. Gapsu
Shipping Lines, JI. Pertiwi 5, has a ship going out
weekly but they never know which one or where it's going:
Poso, Rp7250, 30 hours; Luwuk, Rp7-8,000, 18 hours:
Ujung Pandang, Rp14,500, 3-4 days; Surabaya, Rp18,000,
takes 6 days. flights: Merpati, JI. Achmad Yani, has
4 flights weekly to Manado, Rp13,450. But on its flights
to Poso, Palu, Luwuk, etc., you must fly via Manado
which makes it very dear: to Luwuk it comes to Rp27,750!
Cheaper is to fly direct to these places with Bouraq
airlines. From Gotontalo Bouraq has 4 flights a week
to Palu, Rp14,500, and to Balikpapan (East Kalimantan),
Rp28,150. Costs Rp1000 to get out to Gorontalo's airport,
32 km north. The Bouraq people will come by to pick
you up. from Gorontalo by boat: Take a horsecart down
to the harbor, Rp100. As you trundle by on the bendi
shout out, We mana?' down the long row of boats to find
out where they're sailing. From Gorontalo there are
at least 2 small kapal motors a week to the other side
of Teluk Tomini. There are at least 3 directions to
choose from:1) The easy way is to take a boat to Parigi,
then travel by op/et or minibus to Palu or to Donggala.
You can fly from Palu. Or take a boat or ship from Donggala
south to Pare Pare or to Ujung Pandang.2) Take a boat
from Gorontalo's harbor 3-5 days to either Bunta, Pagimana,
Ampana or Parigi on the southern shore of Teluk Tomini.
P.T. Lamala has boats going to all these points and
is the cheapest company; for example, to Ampana it costs
Rp3000 while other companies charge Rp4-5000. From any
of these villages there are boats departing for Poso
on the southernmost shore of Tomini Bay but be prepared
for a wait, departure times aren't at all regular. Ampana
to Poso, Rp2500; Parigi to Poso, Rp2500. Ampana is your
best bet as a place to get a boat to as there is a penginapan
there (bargain hard for Rp400 rooms) and a few places
to eat; just nasi campur, and no ice.3) From Pagimana,
go by road to Luwuk where boats are available to Kendari
to the south or north to Bitung.
