Titanic, the world's largest ship, and pride of the White Star Line, sank on April 15th, 1912 after colliding with an iceberg on her maiden voyage, with the tragic loss of around 1,500 lives. The memory of Titanic, and the people who died that night are kept alive in many ways, notably books, films, documentaries and websites like this one. Originally a project in web design, the site has developed into much more, and new content is usually added on a weekly basis.
The site contains over 400 pages about Titanic, her owners, the White Star Line, her builders, Harland & Wolff, plus many other related subjects, such as White Star Line vessels. New pages are added on a regular basis, and range from Titanic news articles and biographies, through to pages about other liners of the era and everything in-between. Because of the size of the website, it might be easier to use the search facility to find exactly what you want.
The Titanic Forum is a place where all manner of people, from children wanting to know more about the ship they saw in the movies, through to enthusiasts and dedicated researchers, swap information, ideas and theories. It's also a good place to discuss ocean liners from all shipping lines and all eras, right up to today with Carnival's Queen Mary 2. Registration only takes a few minutes, and is free, so why not join up and become a member of the thriving Titanic community?
TT is now in the process of building a 'Titanic Articles' section too, and is looking for items of relevance to add to this already popular part of the site. If you have something you'd like to contribute to the section, such as a paper relating to Titanic or the White Star Line, a report on a visit to a Titanic exhibition or mueum, or perhaps you visited a grave or memorial.
You can buy Titanic and White Star Line items in the shop, including Titanic & White Star Line postcards, books, DVDs, videos and software in the respective areas, and the purchases you make don't even have to be Titanic or White Star Line related to earn the site a small commision.
There is also a nod in the direction of James Cameron's Oscar-winning movie Titanic, and you can read the whole of the screenplay amongst other things, plus there's a section on who are the fictional and real people in the movie.
You can keep up to date with news in Titanic circles by subscribing to the Newsletter, and subscribers are also told of updates, changes and additions to the website too.
