Millions Want to Work from Home - Job or Small Business Opportunity?
You are looking to work from your home either with a job or a small business opportunity.
Welcome to the Masses! With spiraling costs of everything from gasoline to child care to clothing, millions of Americans are seeking a way to work from their home. While very few people will dispute the advantages of home employment, many can not agree on the best route to achieving this.
Basically, your choices boil down to a couple of categories, either seeking a job that will employ you to work for their business out of your own home, or finding a small business opportunity.
Which of these choices would be best for you?
A Work from Home Job is Harder to Find Than a Small Business Opportunity
Despite the fact that economists had predicted that the introduction of the Internet would open up a vast amount of options for home employment, the statistics have yet to show this actually happening.
The reality of it is, most people who have been fortunate enough to find employment from their home fall into a category called "telecommuters". They are people who have worked for a company for several years (often since before the days of the World Wide Web) and spent most of their years as a traditional employee reporting to their job site each day.
As the company they worked for became more computerized, they found it possible to allow some of their employees to do a portion of their work from their home by having their home PC connected to the company's computer system. The company knows the employee and how disciplined (or not) they are and how well they can work unsupervised.
With this knowledge of employee performance, they have less reservations about allowing those employees to do some (typically not all) of their work away from the job site.
There are some companies who hire employees specifically to work from home, typically doing either phone or data input jobs, but these jobs are hard to find. Furthermore when one of these jobs become available, the competition to get it is usually pretty fierce since there are so many people looking for the work and since the pool of candidates is usually not limited by geographics.
A Small Business Opportunity Does Not Guarantee and Instant Income.
Small business opportunities are much more abundant that work at home jobs. If you set out on an Internet Search for a Small Business Opportunity you will most likely be overwhelmed by the number of possibilities.
However, unlike a job, a small business opportunity can not guarantee you how much you will make and when you will start making it! Furthermore, most small business opportunities will require an investment of both time and money before you start seeing a return on your efforts.
On the plus side, a small business opportunity will give you much more freedom and control over you work schedule, time and (hopefully) income potential.
