What is a "Bad Credit" Credit Card?

A "bad credit" credit card is a credit card that is awarded to people with bad credit. It can take the form of a secured credit card, or even a high-interest rate unsecured credit card. These "bad credit" credit cards are designed to help you repair your credit score. They will provide you with the opportunity that your bad credit has taken away, the opportunity to receive some form of credit.

Companies that issue these types of credit cards do so with a substantial risk. You have bad credit, so they are hoping that you will uphold your end of the agreement and pay your bill on time. They are extending a service to you, despite your flawed credit history, in the hopes that they can assist you in getting back on track, and at the same time, make money from the service they offer you.

"Bad Credit" credit cards have higher interest rates than their good credit counterparts. This is because the credit card company is taking a greater risk, therefore the rewards for them should be greater as well.

How Do I Fix My Credit with a "Bad Credit" Credit Card?

Most "bad credit" credit cards take the form of a secured credit card. These cards require a deposit before you can use them. By paying the deposit, you will free up your credit limit and be able to use these cards just like a regular credit card. If for some reason you are unable to make your payment, the deposit will ensure that the credit card company does not loose any money by taking a chance on you.

These cards are ideal for both parties because they allow you to fix your credit by staying in good standing with a credit card company, and they allow that company to minimize, yet still provide their services to you.

Each month, when you make your credit card payment on time, your credit company will make a report to one, or all, of the three major credit agencies. This will be recorded as a positive sign on your credit history. Over time, as your negative marks are removed from your history and your positive marks keep showing up, your credit score will rise. This is by no means a quick fix, but over time it can help you improve your credit, while at the same time help you establish good habits regarding debt management.

Where Can I Find a "Bad Credit" Credit Card?

A quick search online for those keywords will bring up a plethora of websites for companies offering credit cards for those with bad credit. You can also search specifically for unsecured or secured credit card, depending on what needs you have. Simply browse through the search results generated by your search engine. Before long you will be applying for your credit card and well on your way to repairing your credit. Remember to keep making your monthly payments on time and you will be well on your way to a positive credit score!
