Mission Statement
The purpose of the Evidence Department is to properly receive, enter and secure exhibits, to maintain accurate inventory records, to provide professional, courteous service to the public, to legally and promptly dispose of evidence and to preserve the highest integrity of the Clerk's Office.
Functions
The Evidence Department obtains, secures, monitors and inventories approximately 85,000 pieces of evidence from all Palm Beach County Courts. The Central Courthouse includes: Circuit Civil, Circuit Criminal, County Civil, County Criminal, Domestic Violence, Repeat Violence, Family, Juvenile and Probate Departments. Evidence is also maintained from the branch facilities at Gun Club, North County, South County and the West Branches.
Random inventories are performed on a monthly basis, valuables bi-annually, and a 100% inventory is conducted annually. For the scheduling convenience of those conducting business with the Evidence Department, an appointment is required and may be made by calling 561 / 355-3821 or 561 / 355-3827. Hours of operation are from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., Monday through Friday except holidays.
