Easily improve your memory
In today's fast paced society with deadlines to meet and a hundred details to remember everyday we tend to rely on our minds to keep everything in order. At times, we tend to forget where we put our keys, why we walked to a different room or even forget a person's name we just met. This short-term memory loss can be brought on by the stress we put ourselves through everyday. Other factors can be pesticides, pollutants, poor dietary habits, sedentary lifestyles and aging. People can relate to keeping our immune systems strong so we don't catch infections easily, eating healthier to prevent heart attacks and strokes and increased nutrition for those who are athletic. So why don't we acknowledge the fact that we can do things in a dietary way to keep our minds sharp?
Food for thought
Number one in the fight against brain fog and forgetfulness is definitely nutrition. The brain is comprised mainly of fats. This means healthy fats from such sources as flax and fish oils and not deep-fried foods or foods made with hydrogenated fats. Hydrogenated fats can actually limit, diminish or change brain cell activity because of the toxic by-products (called trans fatty acids) created by heating the fats. The only way to avoid these harmful trans fatty acids is to avoid deep fried foods and foods with hydrogenated oils/fats listed in their ingredients. Another important step in improving memory is to avoid genetically modified foods (GMO's), food additives, artificial flavors and colors and foods that have been sprayed with pesticides or grown with chemical fertilizer. These types of chemicals love to settle in our fat stores where they wreak havoc on our systems. As stated before, the brain is made up mainly of fatty tissue so this can be a major storage ground for these chemicals. Genetically modified foods are of a major concern today because of certain proteins that these foods contain. These proteins may be capable of adversely reacting with our immune systems. More research definitely has to be done in this area before we know that these foods are safe to consume over a long period of time. The biggest guarantee in avoiding all of these problems is to eat organic foods. Certified organic foods are not grown with pesticides, fungicides or chemical fertilizers, they are not genetically modified and are very rich in the nutrients nature intended these foods to have. Thinking of supplementing?
