Monte Carlo Automobile Rally
Created in 1911, this is one of the major automotive sporting events, the success of which has never dwindled.

Feast of St Devote, Patron Saint of the Principality
This tradition dates back to the persecution of ‘Sainte Devote’ in the 4th century. This saint was imprisoned and tortured on the island of Corsica, and then the body set asea. The boat arrived on the coast of Monaco, and was received by this Christian community. Since then, every year there is a torchlit procession and a religious ceremony, followed by setting fire to a boat decorated with olive, pine and laurel branches. The evening finishes with a firework display given over the waters of the harbor of Monaco.

Monte Carlo International Circus Festival
Created by Prince Rainier III of Monaco, it has become one of the most prestigious circus events throughout the world. Three nights long the greatest circuses show the best acts and attractions of five continents to an expert jury.

Europe's most respected multimedia trade fair. It is the number one European event for computer graphics professionals. Six thousand researchers, scientists, business leaders, artists, creators, producers, training experts, and computer graphics specialists gather for a week of conferences, workshops and projections.

Tennis Masters Series Monte Carlo
Held in mid-April, this is the traditional rendez-vous of the stars of the tennis world. This event is known to every "clay court" specialist. http://www.mcopen.org.

Monte Carlo Grand Magic Prizes
An event at the summit of the conjurer's art whose winners are awarded Gold and Silver Wands.

Springtime of the Arts
Music, dance, theatre, cinema and sculpture all share the nights and days of Monaco's elegant way of life.

International Bouquet Competition (April or May)
Organized by the Garden Club under the presidency of Princess Caroline, it has two juries, one made up of professional specialists in floral decoration, the other of well-known people with recognized artistic senses. The major award is the Grand Princess Grace of Monaco Prize.

Monaco Formula 1 Grand Prix
This is the most competitive race in the drivers' world championship. It’s the time when the world's best drivers hit the city streets and crossing the road becomes a sport in itself! The beauty of this Grand Prix is that it allows viewers to get closer to the action than any other big race in the world. Ferraris, Mercedes, Porsches and other serious formula 1 cars careen through 78 curvy, death-defying laps around a 3.3 kilometer (2.1 mile) circuit. The atmosphere must be felt to be believed as these rockets on wheels scream around the tight street circuit.

Monte-Carlo Television Festival
The rendez-vous for the cream of international producers. It presents the most varied and complete facets of modern television : an international new images forum "IMAGINA", a competition and an international market for cinema, television and video products.

St John's Feast - Folk music and dancing
The travelers from France, Italy and Spain come to take part in this feast. There are folk groups, surrounding the Palladienne, young people, wearing the costumes of the past, singing, dancing and playing the mandolin charmingly. At the end of the religion ceremony, two footmen of the Sovereign' s Household, each dressed in fine livery and carrying a burning torch, set alight a bonfire in the center of the Place des Moulins.

Symphony Concerts
The Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, founded in 1856, performs a season of concerts which charm music-lovers from all over the world. Its repertoire includes symphonies, lyrical works and ballets.

International Firework Festival
The world's top pyrotechnicians take part in this competition.

Evenings of entertainment in the Fort Antoine Theatre
The old bastion is today an open-air cultural and artistic venue with a central stage, gardens facing the sea and capacity for 350 spectators.

Monaco Classic Week – Trophee Prada
‘Rendez-vous’ of old boats (sailing and motorised yacht) organised by the Monaco Yacht Club. Against a background of deep blue water and high mountains some of the world's most beautiful and expensive yachts meet to race in fierce but friendly competition.

The Principality's National Day (18-19 November)
