13 nights Beijing, Three Gorges and Shanghai
Downstream
Day 01: USA - Beijing
Anticipation fills the air as we board our international flight bound
for China. Our destination is Beijing, its capital city.
Day 02: Arrive Beijing
Our flight crosses the International Date Line and lands in Beijing
in the evening. After touching down, we are met and transferred to
our luxuriously-appointed accommodations where we unpack
and unwind.
Day 03: Beijing (B-L)
Tiananmen Square, or "Gate of Heavenly Peace," is located
in the heart of Beijing and a symbol of national pride. We pass through
this, the world's largest public square, and continue on to the Forbidden
City where, for over 500 years, commoners were forbidden entry. Later,
we visit the Summer Palace, the summer home of the emperor and his
royal court.
Day 04: Beijing (B-L)
Built over 2,000 years ago, the Great Wall embodies the magnificence
and resilience of Chinese culture. Spanning thousands of miles across
five provinces and two autonomous regions, the Great Wall can be seen
even from the moon. We descend the Great Wall to visit the Ming Tomb
Museum.
Day 05: Beijing (B)
A full day is free for you to explore the city of Beijing on your own.
Day 06: Beijing - Chongqing - Yangtze Cruise (B)
Free lesuire on your own in the moring, fly to Chongqing from Beijing
by Air China CA1409
(14:35-16:55), transfer from airport, board Victoria Cruises
vessel and edge out of port at 8 PM.
Day 07 - Yangtze River (B,L,D)
First stop is either Fengdu, known as the "Ghost City," or
Wanxian, or Shibaozhai (depending on river conditions). Afterwards,
return to the ship and sail towards the magnificent Three Gorges.
Day 08 - Yangtze Cruise - Daning River (B,L,D)
Enter the Qutang Gorge. Victoria cruise ship cautiously pilots its way through the narrow course. At Wushan, disembark the ship and board smaller vessels in order to explore either the Daning River or Shennong Stream. Reboard the ship and sail through the Wu Gorge.
Day 09 - Yichang/Shanghai (B)
Sails through the Xiling Gorge, the longest and historically the most dangerous of the Three Gorges. We proceed to the massive Dam and disembark for a tour of this engineering marvel at Sandouping Village.
Cruise Arrive in Yichang at 11:30AM
Transfer from cruise to airport, fly to Shanghai by Shanghai Airways FM366 (16:00-17:30)
Upon arrival, transfer to hotel.
Day 10 Shanghai (B)
we take a
tour of China's largest and most vibrant city. Experience the modern
sophistication and historical charm that define Shanghai as we visit
Yu Garden, Nanjing Road and the popular waterfront "Bund."
Day 11: Shanghai (B)
A full day is free for leisure activities. Spend it resting, shopping
or sightseeing.
Day 12: Shanghai - USA (AB)
The morning is free until we board our homebound international flight, bidding
a fond farewell to China.
