The Abaco islands offer many safe, private and secluded properties on out islands such as Man-O-War Cay, Great Guana Cay, Scotland Cay, Green Turtle Cay, Lubbers Quarters and Elbow Cay. The Abaco chain of islands extends from Walker's Cay in the north to Hole-In-The-Wall in the south. North of Nassau and about 190 miles east of Florida this area is known for its naturally protected waters and is often referred to as the Sailing Capital of the World.

Marsh Harbour is the center of activity on Greater Abaco, with many airlines that have scheduled flights from Florida or Nassau to Marsh Harbour and Treasure Cay. The short ride from the airport into town demonstrates how Marsh Harbour has a fine selection of supermarkets, banks, and marinas. A reliable ferry service operates out of Marsh Harbour to take you the short ride to the outer Cays. Most of these Cays have small historic settlements and offer many great real estate investments.

Hope Town, located on Elbow Cay, is a United Empire Loyalist settlement. It has so much charm with its narrow streets and candy-striped lighthouse. The lighthouse was built in the mid 1800’s by the British Imperial Lighthouse Service to mark Elbow Reef. A visit to the Wyannie Malone Historical Museum in Hope Town, is a step back in history. Man-O-War Cay has always depended on shipbuilding for its livelihood. Some boats are still handmade without plans. It will remind you of a New England settlement except for the palm trees and tropical breezes.

Farther north and still part of the Abaco Real Estate market, there's a colonial fishing village on Green Turtle Cay, New Plymouth. This small community is marked with brightly painted houses and people proud of their heritage. The Albert Lowe Museum traces the steps of Loyalists who settled here over 200 years ago. Treasury Cay, boasts an 18 hole championship golf course, tennis courts, a marina and facilities for fishing, boating and scuba diving. Many excellent reasonably priced condominiums are offered for sale.

Then there is secluded Walker's Cay, attracting those interested in deep-sea fishing, boating and diving. If you are looking for seclusion you can sail to one of the Abaco uninhabited cays. Here you will find miles of white sand beaches surrounded by beautiful turquoise water.
