Welcome to OmniMedicalSearch.com. This section will help you understand the features and benefits of using our medical metasearch engine, the only one like it on the internet.

OmniMedicalSearch.com is a metasearch engine. It does not operate the same way as search engines like Google or Yahoo. Instead of assembling our own database of websites to present our search results, we return the search results from other search engines in various combinations. When you submit a search term, our metasearch software sends that query, simultaneously, to other search engines, websites and databases. When it returns, you are presented with the top results of ALL the search engines and databases you selected.

That's how a metasearch engine works. And unlike generalized, commercially focused metasearch engines, OmniMedicalSearch.com DOES NOT include results from Pay Per Click, profit driven search engines.

Our metasearch engine is designed to search 32 different sources in 3 different categories so you can find everything you need from one convenient website. Each database we query is unbiased and non-commercial in nature and an established authority for delivering responsible medical information.

Medical Search Engines: With OmniMedicalSearch.com, you can search up to 15 different medical search engines. To help make this function more suitable to various types of users, we've created six different custom search options.

  • All Search Engines: As the name suggests, selecting this search option will return the top results from all 15 medical search engines. This is the default search option. Meaning, unless you specify another source, your searches will always send your query to all 15 search engines, returning all possible results.

  • MedPro Search: (7 sources). This search option is primarily for medical professionals doing serious research. The search engines programmed into this function are comprised of databases containing sophisticated information such as peer-reviewed research articles, medical journal abstracts, results of clinical trials, etc. The search engines included in the MedPro search include: PubMed, Nat'l Institue of Health, CenterWatch.com, HealthFinder.gov, Cancer.gov, Centers for Disease Control and Teoma (restricted to .edu websites only).

  • Basic Search: (8 sources). This search option is customized for the general public, - the novice wanting to learn basic facts about a disease or condition. Although "101" in nature, the information presented can be quite detailed and instructive. The search engines queried for the general public include: MedHelp.org, NHSDirect.nhs.uk, eMedicine.com, WebMD.com, MedlinePlus, Mediwarp.com, Healthopedia.com, and Yahoo (restricted to .ac.uk domains only).

  • Single Source Search: To improve our convenience to professional and public users, we put together this option which, obviously, can limit your search to a single medical search engine. Instead of going around to each medical search engine, you can use our searchbox to query each one individually.

  • Related Search Options: OmniMedicalSearch.com web search results present a list of related search term options to expand, refine and focus your searching.

  • One Click Dictionary Search Term Lookup: On the results pages for your searches, you will see that on the right side of the dark blue box, your search term is highlighted in yellow and underlined. Click on that link to have OneLook.com search for your terms over it's search engine of 970 dictionaries

OmniMedicalSearch.com offers, in the drop down menu, 3 search options including ANY, ALL and EXACT phrase searching. Please note that not all of the 15 search engines we query support full Boolean searching. For example, Exact Words phrase searching will limit your query to the 7 engines that best support Exact Phrase searching.

Medical News MetaSearch: Our news search option can keep you on top of the latest health & medical news reported from around the world. We metasearch ten different sources to make sure you can receive the news you need from one convenient web page. Our news search box gives you the option to search all ten sources or any single source you select.

Medical Image MetaSearch: If a "picture is worth a thousand words," then we would fail in our mission if we did not include an image search option. Using OmniMedicalSearch.com's metasearch technology can bring it all into focus with the ability to search the databases of seven different image search engines to find the picture you need. Besides querying all seven, you can also limit your search to a single image library.

Other Features:

Delivering you the top results from 32 different sources is not all OmniMedicalSearch.com has to offer. Our "toolbox" is also loaded with these goodies:

  • Definition searching powered by OneLook.com that queries an amazing 970 online dictionaries.

  • The government and medical profession love their acronyms but what does all that alphabet soup mean? Medilexicon's Acronym Search Engine can spell it all out for you.

  • What better source of information could there be about a medical condition or disease then an association and/or medical journal devoted to treating that particular health concern? With this idea, OmniMedicalSearch.com put together both a medical association directory as well as a medical journal directory. With 250 links to medical journals websites in 55 different topics, and over 150 medical associations listed, some of the best information you can find is a few clicks away.

  • Our Searchable Databases is packed with a serendipitous collection of the best health and medical databases on the internet. Whether your a medical professional, patient or family member of a patient, many of these resources will make their way into your favorites folder.

Suggestions: OmniMedicalSearch.com is devoted to delivering the best health and medical information available - for free and without needing to "register." - That's why we take your suggestions and feedback seriously and if you can help us do our job better, we'd like to know what you think. "My primary concerns are speed, user satisfaction and presenting relevant results from reliable, unbiased sources," Founder Jason Morrow said. "After that, nothing else matters."
