Many newspapers, especially weekend editions, carry a number of low cost ads. There are also Internet agents (often the same companies that advertise in newspapers), some of which are listed below. Normally, you can buy an airline ticket through an agent for a lot less money than you can through the airline itself. In most cases, there are no additional risks, providing the agent is a member of IATA, which guarantees your ticket / moneys paid. However, you should be aware tickets sold through agents often have much less flexibility if you decide you need to cancel or change it in any way - so ask the questions and be sure you are not going to change your mind! Another point worth remembering is that agents may offer you a combination ticket. That is a ticket that uses 2 or more airlines to get you there (e.g. It is quite common for British travellers to be offered a British Airways flight to Jakarta via Kuala Lumpur, with a Garuda connection then on to Denpasar). Although baggage transfer is (hopefully) automatic, you may want to evaluate just how much time you will be spending on the ground etc. This aside, the savings a little flexibility on your part can attract, often speak for themselves! Oh, and be aware, there is a departure tax of 11,000Rp for domestic flights and 100,000Rp for international flights.
