Controlled Depth Fishing
One of the primary functions of Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM is to place your bait in the strike zone of the fish. Many fish suspend between the surface and the bottom. It can be very difficult to get your bait near these fish. Most methods leave you guessing where your bait is at any point in time. Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM lets you have perfect depth control. You simply dial the depth you want, cast and you can be confident that your bait is where you want it to be.
Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM works like the odometer in your car, only it counts backward. You have three dials that you can set. Each dial has numbers for 0 to 9. The number on the dial represents one of three digits in a number from 00.1 to 99.9. Dial 1 in the picture represents the tenths (10ths) of feet position in the number (e.g. the bold red number in 48.9). Dial 2 in the picture represents the feet position in the number (e.g. the bold red number in 48.9). Dial 3 in the picture represents the units of ten (10) feet position in the number (e.g. the bold red number in 48.9). By setting
all three dials as you would a counter, you set the exact depth that your bait will descend to the fish. When you cast, Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM dispenses the line as the dials count backward to zero where it stops the bait with precise control. When you reel in your line, Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM goes back to its original position without interfering with the retrieval of the fish.
If you have a fish finder you can set the Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM to the depth shown by the fish finder. You can even set the depth to where the larger fish are located in a school of fish.
If you do not have a fish finder, you can use the Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM to easily change the depth until you find the fish that are biting. Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM lets you systematically explore the water so you are sure you have covered an entire area. Once you find the fish, you can confidently go right back to that same depth and catch more fish.
Controlled Depth Jigging
Jigging is a fun and productive way to catch many types of fish. Until now, it has been very difficult to know and control where your bait is in the water. Worse yet, when you catch a fish, it is difficult to repeat the same bait action to trigger more fish. Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM lets you take control of your jigging. You set a depth that you would like to jig for the fish. Each time you raise your rod tip and lower it in a jigging action, your bait moves in a pattern that is precisely controlled by you. You can vary the depth until you find the strike zone. Best of all, once you find the fish, you can repeat the process over and over or at least until you reach your limit.
Until Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM it was almost impossible to jig in an area where there is heavy cover. This is because jigging is primarily a vertical motion. If you could not get your boat into a wooded or weedy area, you were limited to moving your bait horizontally while trying to jig vertically. Your bait moved out of the area where the fish were very quickly.
With Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM you can cause your bait to move vertically many more times before leaving the productive area of cover. This is because each time you jig your line using Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM your bait is moved primarily vertically. The resistance of the water on the float causes it to move more slowly toward you horizontally, giving you many more vertical jigging cycles per cast.
Bass fishing with the Dancing Worm Technique One of the most exciting new methods to catch Bass is the Dancing Worm Technique. Everyone knows that plastic worms are one of the best baits used to catch Bass. Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM provides solutions for the following three things for you that no other technique can.
The primary sense that a fish uses is sight. If the fish can not see the bait, chances are that it will not even know that it is there.
The second need the fisherman has is that the bait must be in the area of the fish. Many people have referred to this as the "strike Zone".
The third thing that must be satisfied is the bait must be life like to attract the fish's desire to feed.
The Dancing Worm Technique delivers solutions for all three of these requirements. The Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM makes it easy to master the technique. You tie the worm to the end of your line in a Texas rig fashion. ( A Texas rig is a bullet slip sinker placed on the line just above the hook. Hook your favorite worm and then attach Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM to your line. Set Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM to a depth greater than the depth of the water you are now fishing in, (so the worm will drop to the bottom) and you are ready to cast.
It is best to cast beyond the area or structure where you expect to find fish. Allow the worm to drop to the bottom. It is said that 80% of the strikes on a plastic worm occur right after the cast while the worm is dropping. Once the worm is on bottom, lift your rod tip slowly from a few inches to as much as one foot. The higher you lift your rod the higher you worm will swim off the bottom. Drop your rod quickly to allow the natural fall of the worm once again. Remember the 80% rule? We are going to repeat that effect over and over to entice the fish. The result is your worm comes alive. It travels in a motion similar to the curve below.
Why It works When you lift your rod tip, Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM is above the worm. This causes the worm to move primarily up and down and only somewhat slowly toward you. The natural resistance of the water allows Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM to move slowly toward you. The worm follows the slow forward motion as shown above. It comes alive, literally dancing through the water.
Now let's look at what this action does to the three criterion we started with (visibility, Strike Zone, and life like motion). The bait is many times more visible as it rises in the water. Predator fish lay in ambush waiting for some hapless meal to come along. Because the lake bottom is not flat, a worm moving along the bottom is much less likely to be seen. That may be why 80% of the strikes occur during the fall of the worm when it is most visible.
In regard to strike zone, Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM does two things. First you can see just where you bait is located. It is just below the float. So you can maneuver your bait by controlling the location of the Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM . Ever want to go right next to a old stump? With Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM it is easy. The second advantage of the Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM is that your bait stays longer in the strike zone. The up and down motion gives you more time to attract finicky fish.
Finally, the worm comes alive. Its tail flutters in a swimming motion. Its motion would fool a human into thinking it is alive. Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM allows you to impart motion to your bait that you could not do any other way.
You can see this technique demonstrated in a video clip by clicking on the picture to the left. It will bring up a 1.17MB .avi file, and may take several minutes to load. Please be patient.
This is just one example of how a conventional bait is converted into a super bait. We are confident that others will find creative ways to use the Dial-A-Depth Fishing FloatTM
How to Attach the Float
Click on the above picture to view the steps in attaching the float to your fishing line. (Animation will repeat)
Step 1:
Take off top and bottom covers by unscrewing the 4 screws.
Step 2:
Place the line within the top and bottom channels. (Please note: The line coming from the top of the float (triangle shaped end) goes to your fishing rod, and the line coming from the bottom of the float (rectangle shaped end) goes to your bait, hook and eventually the caught fish!)
Step 3:
Replace the top cover and secure with the two top screws (being sure to keep the line within the top channel).
Step 4:
Replace the bottom cover and secure with the two bottom screws (being sure to keep the line within the bottom channel).
Step 5:
Push in the button at the back of the float to pop up the center drive wheel for easier access.
Step 6:
Now wrap the line around the drive wheel counter-clockwise, one complete round only. (Please note: you must first put the line under the line guide covers and tighten the screws, then when the line is constrained by the line guide covers, it is easy to wrap the line around the drive wheel.)
The Dial-a-Depth Fishing FloatTM is being demonstrated in Gary Hain's Travelin' Fish Tank
