Search Engine Positioning Tools
 While
we at Beanstalk Search Engine Positioning believe that there is
no substitute for a human when it comes to search engine positioning
there are some interesting tools out there that we have discovered
in our travels. While we don't use many of them, them we do understand
that not everyone can afford to hire search engine positioning experts
and are happy to provide those of you who can't with links to these
tools.
While we've given each of them a try, most of them we haven't tested
in a real-world situation (basically, we may have tried them out
but we haven't applied changes to our sites based on what a generic
software script determines is the best choice with no knowledge
of the specific industry, keyword competition, and other site-specific
aspects). Some of these tools are genuinely interesting, other are
just effective for time saving such as the couple tools we actually
do use. They will be separated into "Tools We
Use" and "Interesting Tools"
below.

Tools We Use
PR
Prowler
PR Prowler from TopNet Solutions searches the web based on your
specific criteria providing results with a minimum PageRank that
you determine. A very handy tool for your link-building efforts.
Total
Optimizer Professional
When we first purchased PR Prowler (above) we thought we've
found the ultimate link building tool. That was, until we found
Total Optimizer Professional. Made by the same folks who put out
PR Prowler this tool rips apart and tells you everything there is
to know about your competitor's backlinks, the anchor text used
to link to them, the PageRank distribution of their incoming links
and much more.
WebPosition
Gold
While this software claims to give advice on how to optimize your
website we have never used it for that and in fact have found it
giving advice to change sites we're holding #1 rankings for. That
said, it provides an easy way to check your rankings for a large
number of keyword phrases over all the major engines with a simple
click of the mouse. An enormous time saver even if you only have
one website.
