| Scripts can fit under a number
categories. This page focuses on CGI (Common Gateway Interface), ASP (Active Server Pages), and
JavaScript. Other languages like DHTML can be found in the "Other" section. CGI is currently the most common tool for making web sites more dynamic and
can use a number of different programming languages such as Perl and C++, with Perl being by far
the most common.
Scripts on your site can be hosted in your web space or remotely
hosted. While remotely hosted scripts don't look as professional because some other URL will
appear in your visitors' address bar, they are very easy to use and are recommended for less
advanced site owners.
