Governor Schwarzenegger Announces
'Ocean Action Plan'
Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger unveiled an ocean protection plan that will set a national
standard for the management of ocean and coastal resources. The Governor commissioned the action plan following
the state's input to the U.S. Commission on Ocean Policy and the Pew Oceans Commission for a report that they have
sent to President Bush.

Department of Fish and Game Fishing Guide
The FishingGuide contains locations within California that offer recreational fishing
opportunities with relatively easy access. Driving directions are included for each location. These locations
were derived in part from the DFG's trout planting data, as well as from input by DFG fishery and enforcement staffs.

Marine Life Protection Act Initiative
The California Resources Agency and California Department of Fish and Game
are partnering with the Resources Legacy Fund Foundation and others in a new initiative to achieve
the goals of the Marine Life Protection Act. This legislation requires that the Department of Fish
and Game develop a plan for establishing networks of marine protected areas in California waters to
protect habitats and preserve ecosystem integrity, among other things.
