STATE RELATIONS

NMMA is one of the few associations in the marine industry that monitors and reacts to legislation proposed in every state. A combination of staff, member participation and professional lobbyists in key boating states provide manufacturers and other components of the boating community with highly-effective representation in state legislatures and regulatory agencies.

The State Government Relations Department monitors more than 2,000 legislative and regulatory proposals every year that affect manufacturing, marinas, taxes, safety, environmental regulation, boating access, dredging, fishing and more. NMMA has an impressive track record in defeating proposals that negatively impact the boating industry and supporting many safety measures, including regulations that require youth to wear PFD’s, a .08 percent blood alcohol level for BWI and mandatory boating safety education.

For more information or assistance contact State Government Relations Manager David Dickerson at 202-737-9761.
