Q: Do I have to know HTML to build a website?
A: No, strictly speaking you don't have to know how to write HTML to build a basic website. We provide a large selection of pre-built webpages called Web Templates that you can use and add your own text and images to. All of the Templates can be downloaded and edited in a standard HTML editor, on your computer, or you can edit them online in the File Manager once you have selected a Template and added it to your web space.
Q: I don't have a site. How do I build one? A: You have three options. You can write your pages in an HTML editor on your computer, or you can write your pages in our online HTML editor, or you can choose one of our pre-built Web Templates and modify that with your own text and images. Q: I have a site I built on my computer. How do I put it on my web space? A: You can upload your site to your webspace two ways. You can use the Java FTP Applet if your browser supports Java, or you can upload files through our online File Manager. The File Manager is a bit slower since it allows you to upload one file at a time, but it does not need anything special to work, just your web browser. Q: I don't know any HTML. A: We provide an excellent series of HTML tutorials in the Help Center and in our Developers resource section. Read each area carefully and follow the examples provided and you will soon be coding your own web pages. Q: What kind of pictures and icons can I use on my web site? A: There are three types of images that can be added to webpages. You can add images that have a filename that ends in .gif, .jpg or .png. All three image types can be added to your webpages using a basic HTML image tag. If you need specific HTML help for adding images to your pages, read through our HTML tutorials in the Help Center. |
