Burma Liveaboard Diving Destinations
Myanmar liveaboard safaris in the Mergui Archipelago and Burma Banks are voyages of discovery. The promise of sharks and manta rays at some of the more famous sites such as Black Rock, Shark Cave and the Banks themselves, hangs like a veil over excited dinner conversations.
But don't allow the big marine encounters to absorb all your attention. Burma liveaboards are equally as popular with macro enthusiasts too. Frogfish, seashorses, ghost pipefish, razorfish and nudibranchs can be found at most of the dive sites, so don't forget your camera!
Perhaps the true romance of diving in Burma lies in the solitude and spirit of adventure that cruising around these remote islands engender. Unlike in neighbouring Thailand, the chances are good that you won't even see another diving boat in the whole of your trip.
Short liveaboards in Burma of only four of five days, visit the southern Mergui islands and caverns as far as Black Rock and the Burma Banks. Occasional trips run instead to the northern and more remote dive destinations of Tower Rock, Torres Islands and up to Cabusa Island.
If time allows, why not join an ultimate Myanmar liveaboards tour of the whole of Mergui Archipelago and Burma Banks? Alternatively, you can combine diving the south of Myanmar with a Thailand liveaboard to Similan Islands and Richelieu Rock, with its whale sharks and superb underwater scenery.
