When you receive a free credit report online or by mail, this report will have a credit score. The credit score is what banks and other financial resources use to judge your over all credit. Judging your over all credit allows the financial institutes to find out your credit history. Your credit history is about your payment history of past bills.
This could be loans, medical bills, utility bills, etc. If for any reason one as had a late payment than that information will show up on your credit report and in turn lower your credit score. If bills have not been payed and have been sent to collection agencies than that information will also show up on your credit report. This will also lower your credit score. The idea is to have a very high credit score. With a high credit score one can just about get anything they would like to have.
Such things as, autos, homes, personal loans, etc.
