Eurofighter GmbH Selects Entrust to Provide Foundation for Security Management Infrastructure
Entrust to Provide Security Foundation on Next Generation Combat Aircraft Project for Germany, Spain, Italy and the United Kingdom
DALLAS and MUNICH – Entrust, Inc. [NASDAQ: ENTU], a world-leading provider of Identity and Access Management solutions, today announced that Eurofighter GmbH has selected Entrust’s security software as the foundation for the project’s Security Management Infrastructure.
Based in Hallbergmoos, Germany, Eurofighter GmbH is the consortium created to manage the development, production and the in-service support of the complete Eurofighter Typhoon weapon system. This consortium is also responsible for delivering the Eurofighter Weapon System to the NATO Eurofighter and Tornado Management Agency (NETMA).
Under the terms of the contract, Entrust will deliver secure desktop and messaging solutions to the Eurofighter project team. This will allow the secure exchange and protection of data using Entrust technology to enable encryption and digital signature capabilities.
“After the evaluation, Entrust was the only vendor able to meet the stringent requirements we demanded for authentication, data protection, digital signatures and secure data exchange associated with the Eurofighter project,” said Erwin Skrivan, Senior Project Leader MP&IT at Eurofighter. “We look forward to working closely with Entrust going forward to ensure that we deliver a world class solution.”
“The Eurofighter project represents the concerted efforts of four nations to develop and deliver an outstanding aircraft,” said Bill Conner, chairman, president and chief executive officer at Entrust. “We are pleased to be part of the security foundation for this project which means so much to so many people around the world.”
The Eurofighter Typhoon is a supremely agile, single seat, twin-engine fighter developed in cooperation between Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom. The aircraft is expected to fulfill Air Force requirements well into the mid-21st Century. The aircraft is in full production and, having achieved Type Acceptance, the first of the 620 Eurofighter Typhoons planned for the four Partner Nations were delivered in 2003, and will continue to be delivered throughout 2004.
