NBA - National Basketball Association
The National
Basketball Association (NBA) consists of 29 teams split into 2
conferences and 4 divisions. The
regular season runs from late October until mid April and each team
plays 82 games. The top
8 teams in each conference qualify for the playoffs.
Each conference is seeded 1 to 8
based on record (except that the Division winners are seeded
#1 and #2). In the
first round, which is best-of-five, #1 plays #8, #2 plays #7, etc.
From there, the winners of each round move on and all series
are best-of-seven. The
two conference champions then meet in a best-of-seven series to
determine the NBA Champion.
