Working in International Development at World Learning

World Learning for International Development is a non-profit organization dedicated to developing the skills and potential of individuals and institutions in all regions of the world. As a leader in multicultural education and training, we specialize in activities that build capabilities, provide technical assistance, and train local people and organizations. Our major areas of focus include: Civil Society and Social Change, Education, and Training and Exchange programs in more than 90 countries.

As part of the World Learning Family of organizations, World Learning for International Development, based in Washington, DC, works closely with the academic, study abroad, and training programs of World Learning's School for International Training (SIT), based in Brattleboro, Vermont.

There are many ways to be part of World Learning's international development team:

  • Internships in Washington, DC – We look for motivated and energetic graduate and undergraduate students for full- or part-time interns in many of our program units.
  • Volunteer Positions Abroad – We look for qualified graduate students, teachers, and development professionals to serve in short-term assignments, assisting experts with implementing our development programs.
  • Overseas and Domestic Consultancies – We look for individuals for long, intermediate and short-term consultancies on an on-going basis.
  • Democracy Fellowships with USAID – We place fellows throughout USAID to promote the cause of democracy worldwide and to advance their careers in democracy development.
  • Administrative and Technical Staff in Washington, DC – We look for a variety of qualified individuals passionate about development to support and drive our international programs.

World Learning for International Development maintains an active Skills Registry of consultants for long and short term project and consulting assignments, usually overseas.
