Entrust USB Tokens
Entrust USB Token

Many organizations are turning to two-factor authentication solutions to verify the identities of users on their private networks. Simply put, two-factor authentication is based on something you know (e.g. a PIN) and something you have (e.g. a token). By requiring two independent elements for user authentication, this approach significantly decreases the chances of unauthorized information access and fraud.

Entrust USB Tokens

Collaborating with SafeNet, Entrust distributes SafetNet iKey 2032 tokens as Entrust USB Tokens, which form an integrated component of the Entrust product portfolio. These security tokens enable strong two-factor authentication to desktops, VPNs, WLANs and Web portals. Entrust USB Tokens are designed to work together with Entrust's leading PKI product portfolio to provide a comprehensive, scalable security solution that meets customer needs for stronger authentication, encryption and digital signatures.

Convenient and portable User ID

Entrust USB Tokens are designed to securely store an individual's digital identity (digital ID), specifically their Entrust digital certificates and keys.

Entrust USB TokenThese portable tokens plug into a computer's USB port either directly or using a USB extension cable. When users attempt to login to applications via the desktop, VPN/WLAN or Web portal, they will be prompted to enter their unique PIN number. If the entered PIN number matches the PIN within the Entrust USB Token, the appropriate digital credentials are passed to the network and access is granted. PIN numbers stored on the token are encrypted for added security.

Entrust USB Tokens are a key component of the Entrust Secure Identity Management Solution and interoperate with the Entrust Secure Data Solution and Entrust Secure Messaging Solution to enable:

strong security…

  • removing the Entrust USB Token will prevent other users from accessing the current secure session
  • the token cannot be duplicated
  • if stolen, security is not completely compromised because the associated PIN number is also required to gain access to the desktop, VPN/WLAN or Web portal
  • PINs are encrypted by the token itself to increase the level of security

that is extensible…

  • storage of a user's digital certificate enables security capabilities beyond just authentication, to include digital signatures and encryption

reliable…

  • Entrust USB Tokens are durable against normal wear and tear
  • the typical lifespan of a token is approximately ten years
  • batteries are not required

and can enable compliance…

  • Entrust USB Tokens can help organizations abide by new security standards and global legislations that mandate the privacy of client/patient/consumer records, including HIPAA, Sarbanes-Oxley, California SB 1386, EU Digital Signature Directive and German Digital Signature Law

at a lower total cost of ownership

  • Entrust's centralized policy administration and automated security management reduce deployment and ongoing maintenance costs
  • 'plug and play' capabilities with USB ports minimizes helpdesk and training costs
  • USB extension cables protect against USB failures due to wear and tear
