Two night itinerary with Biobay and Snorkeling

• Two nights with biobay and snorkeling (With children). Come to Vieques on the 9:00 (or 9:30 AM weekdays) Ferry from Fajardo ( 9 AM weekends) $2. Arrive 10:30 AM and take the 'Publico' ($3.) from the ferry dock to your lodging. You can also Fly from San Juan ($43. & $83. each way) or from Fajardo ($20. each way). Get off the ferry or plane and check in and pick up your rental jeep. Have a late lunch on the Esperanza Waterfront on your own. A variety of restaurants to choose from. Trade Winds, Bananas, Bilí, Tiki Hut and others.

• Spend the afternoon on the beautiful beaches. Blue Beach, Red Beach, Sun Bay or Media Luna. ( Beaches ) Have dinner at any one of a number of fun restaurants in Vieques!

• Next morning enjoy breakfast. Take a dip in the ocean, after lunch meet Golden Heron Ecotours at 2 PM across from the Trade Winds Restaurant in Esperanza. We paddle through the mangrove tunnels and then paddle out to a pretty beach you can only get to by kayak, go snorkeling on our Sunset Beach, Bonfire Dinner and BIOBAY kayak trip. Bring or rent your own mask. (not included). Abes' Snorkeling will rent you masks and snorkels or you can rent them in Esperanza. Picnic dinner on our beautiful remote beach after snorkeling. We enter the bioluminescent bay when the stars come out! We anchor our kayaks and swim. Trip ends at 8:00 PM Children are always welcome. Children under 7 go free.

• In the morning explore Vieques by jeep. Try the East or West End Reserves and the lovely Green Beach, make a stop at the 300 year old Ceiba Tree. Drive out on the 1 1/4 mile long pier for a view of Vieques and Puerto Rico in the distance . Below is a path near Playa Grande, south side of Vieques. The newly opened US Fish and Wildlife Reserve that covers the entire eastern half of Vieques has beaches that will knock your socks off!

• Take the 3 PM ( 4:30 weekends) Ferry back to Fajardo. You can pre-arrange transportation to San Juan or you can pick up your rental car. If you take a morning ferry to Fajardo you could arrange to stop and visit the El Yunque rain forest on your way to San Juan.


2 Nights Lodging and Kayak Trip (with dinner), optional jeep.

Kayak trip is $90. per person over 7 and free for small children under seven. Jeep rental will cost between $50 and $60. per day.

Lodging that Welcomes Children:

Ababor Suites Apartments right on a shallow beach. Upstairs or downstairs suites located on the the north shore almost at the end of the road going east from Isabel Segunda. Great place for families. Terrific place to just relax on the sea. Shallow inlet allows children great freedom to enjoy the water... North shore constant breeze. You need a jeep to stay here.

Acacia Apts. Guest House is a few blocks from the Malecon and has kitchens. (Peaceful and pleasant here) Tel. 787-741-1059 The new owners are very friendly and helpful. People are very happy, who stay here.

Adventures Inn. A Bed and Breakfast. Continental Breakfast included, served on the roof-top garden. Located in Montesanto, AC. Same ownership as Casa Cubuy Ecolodge in the El Yunque rainforest. Upstairs rooms enjoy a shared balcony. Cable TV. One mini suite has a kitchen. Two blocks to grocery store. You will need a jeep rental to enjoy your vacation.

Casa Preciosa (house rental) is right on the beach, one of the few beaches that you can swim and snorkel on. Great location for families with small children. Right next to La Lanchita, swimming and snorkeling out the door!

'La Lanchita' POOL right on the ocean and a beach you can swim and snorkel on. Kitchenettes. Fabulous view of the sea right at your doorstep. Good management makes this a super place to stay and swimming right there, with snorkeling too! Often all booked up, make reservations with plenty of time.

Martineau Bay Resort and Spa is presently a Wyndham Hotel. Lovely setting, resting above two little beaches on the north shore. Although a small resort, it is still wise to rent a jeep to see Vieques. Restaurant, pool, bar, spa, boutique. Local tel. 787-741-4100. The best way to reserve your Wyndham Martineau Bay Resort rooms is through Expedia.com... you could save hundreds! Makes it affordable! (depending on the date you choose).

La Piña Apartments weekly rentals in Esperanza. All new upstairs and downstairs, one and 2 bedroom apts. Will be open for rentals by January 1, 2005. All with kitchens. A few blocks away from the waterfront, swimming and restaurants. Call Marianne at 787-741-1564 ( same owner/managers as Adventures Inn (nightly rates).
